This.

I got excited for a split second but as I clicked the think I thought to myself "Were next gen consoles even playable at Gamescom??" and then when I saw the gameplay I knew it was current gen.

My thoughts exactly. Euroleague, a LeBron future-driven mode and some gameplay tweaks doesn't justify $60 for me personally. I'm waiting on info for next gen.

You'll know next-gen when you see it.

Everything at Gamescom is current gen.

Same here. Watching all this stuff basically made the decision for me in regards to the current gen 2k.

If I buy/play 2k14, it will be on the PS4.

Lol it seems like this kind of thinking could apply to EVERY new edition of 2K.

True, though it may just be a matter of the new additions being wholly unappealing to many. If the LeBron James Mode truly has to do with previous events, which then means some additional classic 2000's teams make an appearance (2000's Pistons, Nuggets, Celtics, Bulls), I will be fascinated with that feature. That aside, there's not a lot of grabbers out there right now for fans of the series looking for new NBA features.

Just for me personally, some of my big NBA draws to the past few 2K's have been:

2K13: NBA Slam Dunk and 3pt. Shootout in its proper environment; USA Olympic Teams from 2012 and 1992; Addition of 2001 Philadelphia 76ers; 15 editable dunk slots

2K12: NBA Greatest Mode; Near Doubling of Retro Teams

2K11: Jordan Challenge; Introduction of Classic Teams

2K10: Debut of MyPlayer, Summer League, Training Camp, and D-League

Thus far, I just haven't caught wind of anything that has left me similarly hyped for 2K14. The first two big blowouts have been for Crew and Euro-exhibitions, neither of which are related to the real NBA's past or present.

11-13 have looked more less the same.
I don't understand really why this is a complaint that it looks the same. What do people expect? How different and how much better does people think it should look?

The game has evolved into these graphics and I think they look great and they look like basketball.
