Madden 2010 News Post

Check out the latest Madden NFL 10 blog, featuring details on the 2nd title update.

Quote:
"The first update mostly talked about some of the planned Gameplay fixes but we've also focused on some other important, non-gameplay related fixes as well including Uniforms, Franchise Stat tuning, Replays and Scriptables. The uniform updates include updating the Seattle Seahawks' home uniform to default their home pants to be blue instead of white as well as adding in their new eye popping Neon Green uniforms that they wore in Week 3 against the Bears. We've also added tribute stickers to the Titans' helmets for Steve McNair and the Eagles' helmets for former Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson.

Some more updates that we have made based on the community feedback center around Replays. We've doubled the amount of time a replay could be recorded so longer plays, such as kick/punt returns or long interception/fumble returns would not have the beginning part of the play cut off. We have also increased the frequency of Auto Instant replays (especially after touchdowns), based on your feedback that told us they weren't appearing enough. Other updates include reducing the number of times the Chain Gang Measurement scene will trigger during the game and extending the time that we are in postplay by 2 seconds to give more time for the presentation of certain shots to finish before being cut off too early. The user will still of course be able to button through these if they want.

Finally, our resident Franchise guru Josh Looman, has been working hard at tuning stats for Franchise mode. He has increased the number of touchdowns HB's score in a season, decreased QB passing yards and touchdown passes per season, and increased sacks for 3-4 OLB's while decreasing sacks for MLB's and DT's. He has also decreased the injury chances for players with high injury ratings."

Has the issue of CPU QBs getting rid of balls been fixed?

Nothing is more frustrating than to constantly have the QB get the ball out and avoid the sack. I've gone through a couple years with my Franchises & my pass rushing specialists top off the seasons with mighty numbers such as 2-5 sacks a season. This has got to be fixed!!

So I guess the IR still won't work like in real life?

This is fixed if you play as the de or blitzing OLB and diving at the QB. If you play the safety or non-blitzing position it won't help but diving definately helps.

Along with draft info, i wish they would have added how aquired. That was always something interesting once you got a couple years in a franchise and forgot how you got a player.

"We have heard several people mention how difficult it is to sack the CPU QB, so we increased the chance of the CPU QB to hold the ball longer and actually take a sack instead of being able to get a throw out of sack pass off before he is brought to the ground." - Larry

We're going to use this as the the patch thread. The rules follow over:

If you come in this thread and bash the devs or whine about the patch not being released or what is in the patch, you will be given a red card, celled, or banned. This thread is for MATURE conversation about the patch, not your chance to spread your agenda.

This is your one and only warning.

hmmm...I was expecting a lot more detail in the blog on what was definitely in the patch but oh well. I'm wondering if some of the things that were broken with the first patch have been fixed...expecially the broken routes by the wide receivers where they walk instead of running their routes.

Has the problem with only displaying facts about the Bengals and Bears caused by the first patch been fixed for this update?

# 32 major major @ 11/30/09 07:03 PM
Well.. at the very least it is coming very soon and we have detail.

Hopefully it will bring out and or back SIM players for some good on-line play!

Thank you for the update!

I've had great sim games online, but this will really week out the few flats guys left. What particularly excites me about that is how the game will evolve for the better once the the "security blanket" of the flats is gone. Passing should hopefully change for the better.

I just didn't like it when people went to the flats and got away with bad decisions (throwing into flat defenders) on a regular basis.

Either way, I am very happy with the game. I liked it pre-1st patch, post 1st patch, and, most likely, post 2nd patch. I rather EA just stay focused on Madden 11, at this point, which I know they already are. They can't fix everything in this Madden but I hope the fixes will carry over to the next Madden and they can continue to build and add on as they go, each year. I'm actually watching a random game of the CPU playing Green Bay Vs Philly, now, while I type. Bout to see if I can FINALLY beat this Lions Vs Skins Madden moment.

Can't wait for this patch! I already love Madden as it is with some adjusted sliders (call me crazy) this patch is just going to make it that much better

# 36 HolyCrap @ 11/30/09 07:50 PM
EA likes to write what they are gonna do but never seem to do it.

too bad the patch cant fix the GAME PLAY errors such as warping and time shift gotta wait till Madden 2011 for that...hopefully

Solid list, should be some good additions to what already is a great game. Kudos, EA.

# 38 sportyguyfl31 @ 11/30/09 08:13 PM
Should improve the game a great deal.

Please explain.

Based on the patch notes I've read, I do feel EA will deliver what they wrote. Do you know something about the patch that we don't?

In franchise mode, will the tribute stickers disappear after this season or will they be permanent fixtures?
