Sweet, they took the right direction last year by getting most of the bigger name players faces in the game.

This year you would imagine EVERY starter will have their own face.

And nice find man!

# 2 RedZoneD25 @ 01/28/10 02:38 AM
Every starter?

Why not everybody?

No excuses anymore...Just fly all the teams out lol

Edit: This means for in-game, right? I was thinking about the little pic in the info area. Whoops.

# 3 Jono078 @ 01/28/10 02:43 AM
Yes you'd imagine it is in game since they are taking 3-Dimensional shots of the players heads.

This is a huge addition. Go play Madden 10 and look at Sidney Rice's head when tossing the coin, it's cringe worthy :P

This will enhance Madden's authenticity very much. But you could be right, they may also use the faces in roster management and stuff, don't see why not.

Probably all the Pro-Bowl players in Miami this year will get their face 3D scanned.

# 5 RedZoneD25 @ 01/28/10 04:54 AM
^^

I get your point, but half the experience is authenticity...which you cannot to without it.

My personal belief is we should be FAR past the need to be doing this for the 2011 game. That's not how it went though.

When you play the game you see the face .01% of the time on a replay (if you even get a good shot)

You have a point but i think that's the same thing UFC Undisputed used to scan their fighters and the facials animations in that game are unreal.

# 7 ZoneKIller @ 01/28/10 07:37 AM
I hope they get Sanchez's face right. In Madden 10 he has the same face as some of the generic rookies.Stafford too

3-D HDTVs... 3-D gaming... new innovation. I see 3-D Madden in the future.

# 10 mm boost @ 01/28/10 12:14 PM
Well guys, the innovation very well could be making all the players real and true to life. For years all of the players on the field have generic bodies and faces, and it keeps the game from having that authentic feel. With this, it will make the game alot more believable and immerse you more into the game. I, for one, love this. I think this is great news. Now, to get facial hair, dreads, long hair, tattoos, arm veins, etc...and it will be right where I want it.

And dammit, I had this link copied and was about to make a post about this, you beat me to the punch! lol

I agree 100%....they said it's something that no one else has done before. I bet money this is on the horizon!

Probably will make the game 3-d capable.

Amen. It's putting energy into unnecessary places. So Peyton Manning will look like Peyton Manning, except of course his body, which looks like he's roided up heading to the line of scrimmage.

I can't believe how much you people complain about things EA does to make the game better. They do something new, and you guys bitch? Wow. We already know the game was leaps and bounds better in 2010 than it was in 2009...you know 2011 will be building off of the things they did right with 2010 with improvements to areas they did wrong. My god you people are ungrateful. I love this. Can't wait to see how realistic the game is. I am tired of watching randomly generated bodies and faces on all of the star players. It makes the game feel like old school. We are on next-gen people...it's time we get a next-gen product.

# 14 mm boost @ 01/28/10 01:44 PM
And is exactly the reason EA doesn't care about fans like that, because everyone is so ungrateful for everything they do. It doesn't matter what the bring to the table, you guys have to constantly criticize everything they do.

Never once in that message did I say that it helps with gameplay. However, I said that it helps with immersion. For all the EA ***** trolls, why don't you wait until the blog next sunday is released before you bash every update that is brought up for Madden. Alot of people like presentation and immersion, a lot like gameplay, and most likes both...which is me. Right now, they are providing a blog about gameplay next sunday, so why would I come in here bashing EA about gameplay when this has nothing to do with gameplay? It just does not make sense to me.

Hopefully "next-gen product" won't just apply to graphics in EA's mind. I know it doesn't in yours, but you're not developing the game.

Hopefully, it applies to AI and gameplay, and the sim engine as well.

Enhanced graphics are fine - and I won't complain about them getting better, it's just not one of the things that gets me excited about Madden 11 yet.

# 16 kjcheezhead @ 01/28/10 02:31 PM
It's just frustrating to hear how much they concentrate on the graphics. The stills in Madden 10 are fantastic, I will give EA that much credit, but I've been waiting for years to see wr shading, individual bump and run, more effective disguising of man/zone coverage, ai that functions well enough for a play editor, etc, etc. Guess what, they never seem able to fit those things into the game.

Please EA, get those things back in the game before working on 3-d faces we'll rarely see cause they're under a helmet. This is as exciting to hear as "animated" hand towels was for me.

Now only if we could scan the players intelligence...

Madden 11 will be the game's 6th showing on "next-gen." I think by now some things should be different, and I don't mean player faces. I enjoy the game, but there are core issues that have yet to be addressed. Those things are well over due.

# 19 ewto16 @ 01/28/10 05:41 PM
I can't watch the video without installing some player, but isn't it just the mobile Gentle Giant scanning studio that game companies have been using for years now?

# 20 roadman @ 01/28/10 05:53 PM
Shouldn't we wait for gameplay information to be released before pushing the panic button?

Doesn't that sound reasonable?

A website produces an article about 3D modeling for Madden and people are demanding game play without any knowledge what game play will be added this year.

Ian is coming out with a game play SB blog.

After that, I'm sure will get a trickle of information till the end of July.
