NBA 2K12 - All 15 Legends Announced

ESPN has announced the 15 legends in NBA 2K12 and their opposing teams. Both sides should have 10-12 accurate players represented according to the article. Here's the list of players and their opponents in the game:

Chris' Take: Seems to be a lot of a 'been there done that' with several of the guys and teams on the list. BUT, that doesn't mean it's still not cool (for now). Some of the guys are pretty exciting such as Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlin. If the rosters from the opposing teams are spot-on as mentioned in the article, then this mode gets a lot more exciting and that appears to be the case. But really, a lot of the guys from the 90s and late 80s are rehashes of last year's teams on the Jordan Challenge. And it appears you have to play (or I'm sure pay) to unlock the teams in exhibition.

NBA 2K needs all it can to top last year's effort sales wise, I'm highly skeptical it's going to be able to match it with the NBA Lockout and a legends lineup that feels cool but somewhat rehashed as well -- but the mode should be quite cool at least one more year.

I don't believe it was locked out in the game I played Goffs. I played 12 minute qtrs. Not sure if they changed that but I can't see why they would fam.

I am ALWAYS fighting for us man. I also shopped Chambers as a legend they said all people remember about him is he dunks from the 3 point line(lakers vs celtics). LOL

I feel you bra... I cant wait to play with all the teams added like wilt or kareem even jerry west!!! It would be nice if they had sir charles, reggie vs the knicks and spike lee lol, and A.I. was my favorite player growing up but I'm definitely satisfied with what they did. I love classic teams and all sports games should do this. Maybe more teams will be DLC? Who knows but I dont care cause I finally get to get some payback with my 95 magic against the rockets!!!!

hmmm.. i think 01-02 lakers might still be in the game.. the 01-02 kings well be in..what would be the point of 01-02 kings with no other team in their timeline..?

Ha ha! Picturing that Chambers dunk (both the pixelated version and real one) in my mind right now. Did you know Chambers turned to Mark Jackson who was lying on the floor after that dunk and said, "hands down, man down!" That's where that line originated...just kidding, made that up. But no doubt, an illustration of Chambers and Mark Jackson should be next to "posterized" in the dictionary!

I'm disappointed they don't have the Sonic squad with Chambers, Ellis, and the X-Man; I had my hopes a bit high that they'd be included. Three 20ppg scorers on that team, and 2 top 50 scorers all-time. Oh well, perhaps I can still create them if they have the old school Sonic jerseys...same goes for '00 Pacers squad, '93 Suns, and a couple others I was hoping for.

Still a great list 2K!!! Kudos! Especially for nearly, if not, full benches!!!

That's what I'm saying, there has to be some more teams. Hopefully tomorrow's Insight will shed some light on possible DLC teams.

great list on the 93 Suns what i wouid have done is get the other guys K J etc and make 1 fake guy fully editable and i wouild had made them DLC With 94-95 Indy teams in Future years just a idea 80-81 BOS 85-86 HOU 87-88 UTA AND DAL 92-93 NYK 94-95 SEA 1999 SA 'NYK 'LAL 'UTA' MIA 99-00 POR 03-04 CLE' DEN 03-04 DET

This is awesome news, guys. So what about no Barkley or Miller. Hopefully they gave us some good Suns throwbacks and you can create them. We get so many different eras, so many great players (David Robinson comes to mind) that weren't even listed as legends, so many great teams (Jordan, Kareem, and others on multiple teams I'm sure)... this is the end-all of legendary hoops video games. The disappointment will be in the future when 2K has to re-sign each guy individually or else lose him from the game.

I love the list. Not what I expected but I love the players they were able to get. Aside from the 2 downloadable teams, I truly hope they will caution to add more, maybe 2-3 per month after the release until the season is over. Most guys have stated them and I'm sure 2K would come up with great teams by themselves. Also, one legend that is probably looked over from the mid-late early 90's is Grant Hill. Much like Penny, dude was approaching stat status of best in the game. Maybe one of his teams can make the cut. I know he wasn't on great great teams but his talent was still superior than most not named MJ during his pistons run. His best team was in 1996-1997 when they went 54-28....just a thought anyway, can't wait for mañana, great stuff 2K!
