NHL 16 patch 1.04 is available now for Xbox One (2.1GB) and PlayStation 4 (2.3GB), providing fixes for gameplay, Be A Pro, Be A GM, presentation and much more.

EASHL Club Challenges
  • Select Club Challenge dressing room and search for the team you wish to challenge. When both teams are ready to play, send the challenge and start your game. The game will only count towards your Pro's Player Badges progression and personal stats.
EASHL AI Goalies
  • AI goalie attributes will be lowered in the situation where a player controlled goalie drops from game to be fair for the other team
Gameplay Tuner Download Update
  • When a new Gameplay Tuner is available to download it will show up in the NHL 16 main menu. Note from Millennium - Settings still only show V1.00 or Latest for tuner selections
Gameplay
  • Increased the chance of a trip when spamming pokecheck from behind the puck carrier
  • Added ability for players to lose speed the more they spam pokecheck
  • Tuned down the ability for players to perform defensive deflections behind them
  • Pokechecks will now only connect with strength on the way out, not on the sticks return back to the player
  • Addressed issue where the AI player would be able to get a full powered pass without powering up first after a User called for a pass
  • The AI will no longer auto pass when a Player does a manual windup for a show outside of the offensive zone
  • Increased the effect of the pass reception slider in the gameplay setting
  • Addressed issue where the gosalie Butterflu Sliders weren't overriding Precision Motion
  • Addressed issue where some players would be stuck in goalie control after making a pass as a goalie
  • Added butterflu slides out of both VH and Hug Post to make it easier to slide across out of those positions
  • User controlled goalie will now face the puck earlier as it is carried towards them
  • Goalies now receive the puck more cleanly with their stick from a standing position
  • Addressed issue where a goalie woudl sometimes get stuck sliing in the butterfly
  • Pucks can no longer be chopped if the stick goes through the goalie first so that they behave the same as pokechecks
  • Fixed issues where AI players wouldn't avoid their own net properly with the puck
  • Fixed issue where User players woudl sometimes be stuck on the bench while an AI player played for them after situations where they served a penalty
  • Added more conditions in goalie interference logic to increase accuracy to the calls for both allowed and disallowed goals
  • Fixed the button callout for accepting fights when using Hybrid controls
  • Added ability for Precision Skating to trigger at lower speeds
  • Fixed issues with the True Broadcast camera pan direction in Shootouts
  • Weakside AI defender won't look to hit the puck carrier when they are outside the slot
  • AI will look for hits during in-zone defense even if they don't have a great angle. This will allow AI players to bump a player off the puck even twhen the puck carrier has their back to them
  • Fixed issue where shot accuracy was too high on hardcore gamestyle when spinning around before taking a slapshot
  • Fixed issue where in some cases, the AI goalie wouldn't track the shoowing position properly when a player was rolling the puck back before shooting in a shootout scenario
Be A Pro
  • Increased the likelihood of being drafted if the user starts in the CHL
  • Enabled the user to switch between Classic and Authentic styles after entering the mode
  • Decreased the likelihood of the game switching between Classic and Authentic automatically
  • Players will not get penalized for long shifts until 10 seconds after they are called to the bench
Coaching Feedback and On-Ice Trainer
  • On-Ice Trainer visualizations will now show up for both teams if there are local users on both the home and away teams
  • Feedback hints can now be shown when Control hints are disabled
  • Coaching Feedback - Classic BAP players will not lose excessive Endurance experience for long shifts
  • Coaching Feedback - Fix for some coaching instructions not clearing quickly enough
  • Coaching Feedback - Defensive letter grades now accumulate correctly in EASHL
  • Coaching Feedback - Tie-ups and stick lifts from faceoff grip positions were not counting as using that grip in coaching feedback
  • Coaching Feedback - Deflections no longer awarded to defensive players blocking shots
  • Coaching Feedback - Blocked shots that hit sticks no longer count as blocked passes if there was a recent pass
  • Coaching Feedback - Shot blocks now count if they hit your stick
Be A GM
  • Decreased amount of Team and Player meetings that occur during a season
  • Decreased the amount of points an average defenseman gets during a sim
  • Added a setting to Disable Team and Player Meetings
  • Decreased the impact of team chemisty on the sim engine
Presentation
  • Added the Moncton Wildcats 3rd Jersey
  • Added the Frolunda Indians Home and Away Jerseys
  • Added the Providence Bruins 3rd Jersey
  • Added the Nashville Predators Golden Alternate Jersey
  • Added the New York Islanders 3rd Jersey
  • Added the Hershey Bears 3rd Jersey
  • Added the Texas Stars Home and Away jerseys
  • Added the Wilkes Barre Penguins 3rd Jersey
  • Improvements for Grand Rapids Home and Away Name plate bar fix
  • Improvements for Kamloops Blazers Home and Away number color fixes, "C/A" placement fix
  • Fix the Montreal Canadiens Home jersey eyelet and collar lace
  • Updated various center ice designs for authenticity
  • Updated various goal horns and goal song timing for authenticity
  • Added 15 female heads to create player selection
  • Equipment - Added Brian's Sub Zero 3 Goalie pads, blocker and trapper
  • Equipment - Added Vaughn Vintage Goalie pads, blocker and trapper
  • Equipment - Added Ventus LT98 Goalie pads, blocker and trapper
  • Equipment - Added CCM 4-Roll Pro III glove

I'm definitely seeing the difference in hitting tendencies noted in the first post. On default All-Star hardcore the CPU is taking the body quite a bit more on defense (because it won't just hit from the front now), and it's resulting in some boarding calls which were extremely rare before. Previously almost all penalties the CPU would take involved the stick (tripping, hooking, slashing, high-sticking) so getting a physical penalty back in there is a welcome sight.

Of course the passing and shooting sliders still need a tweak to get down to realistic levels, but I'm just on default for now like Mill was suggesting we do.

I feel like the roster made an effort to lower some of the ratings. Not to a huge degree, but there seems to be more of a gap in the 80's range. Guys like Raffi Torres or Chris Neil would be an 83 before, and now they're 81. Seems like higher rated guys have remained the same, but the 84 and below have dropped an overall point or two, or three.

Most of it will. You will not be able to have the 3rd jerseys though because once again, instead of EA putting the jerseys in the patch they put them in the roster update.

In HUT i believe that ea added a Default and a Generic goal horn option for your team, and removed the team's horn that belongs with your arena. I have MSG as my arena, but the Default and Generic horns are the Devils, when I assumed that Default would be the Rangers's. Does anyone else have this problem or am I doing something wrong? Also props to ea for fixing the horns, now they need to add the missing horns and songs

I bought the Bruins arena to test this, and when set to default, the correct bruins horn played. And, the boston bruins horn option was still availble. However, i cannot find the rangers horn still. Glitch?

Im still downloading the update it says it will take 5 hours ? so Im hoping for many nice changes but Jake dont you think much of what your seeing when you say two different games depends on the Strategy ? you know depending on score or momentum whether their passive or aggressive ect ?

??? on default offline is anyone one seeing more organic gameplay ? real pucks physics and less robotic boost hockey ?

Anyone know if offensive faceoff is fixed in left circle in off. zone? Last I played team got into regular formation even if I chose offensive...

I only played those 4 games earlier but didn't see the robot boost super hockey. I did have a few times where I couldn't get out of my zone or defend well but that was because I had exhausted guys out there I couldn't get off the ice. That's realistic though and I like it. I will say this years game is the only one where you better make smart line changes and dump and change when needed or you will get burned and that's a good thing

Played a BeAGm game Senators at Panthers. My sliders on Pro. I did not change a thing.

Won in a shoot out 5-4.

I was down 4-1 in the third period and rallied like a mad man to tie the game and over came a 5-3 PP situation.

Game was marvelous.

I am good to go.

Not sure if Im out of my mind or its a placebo effect but I just played 2 games in where I did not fell cheated by the goals scored by cpu. The puck felt loose and took some great bounces, end over end rolling when poked.

I also feel now that when there is a loose puck my team has a shot at it where before this release, it always seemed like the cpu team was always in the right place at the right time or had more speed to move past my player and gain control of the puck...

The cpu still does not dump and chase when I hold my zone and they will skate around until there is a window for them to skate the puck in, on a rare occasion they dump after entering the zone...

Saw some great puck deflections on scoring attempts, this was there prior to the patch/tuner but now it seemed I dont know how to explain it but "more realistic" is the only way I can...

Game feels a lot less canned...I only wish there was real differentiation between the teams skill and game plans(Like PES series).

Also seems I'm seeing more penalties.. Beat Caps in OT 4-3 with the Isles.. 0-4 with the man advantage, Caps 2-6

Which penalties are you seeing? The majority of the calls I see are still stick infractions but I'm seeing an occasional boarding call too.

This is odd.. only one game post patch.. but there was only ONE penalty and that was me initiating a fight. Pre-patch I had no issues with penalties, the game I played was fun post patch.. but it made me worry as there were no minor penalties.

I've only played a few experimental games so far with 1.04....but digging it so far. The ice seems a little more level now. Actually winning some races to the puck Along with some wins with board play...rather than just bouncing off. Seeing what seems like more loose puck situations in all three zones. Thumbs up so far.

This game is playing really good hockey right now in my opinion. Really having fun with it.

EA, good work on this involved patch. Lots of good. Good stuff.

I saw some back checking by the AI behind the net. Didn't feel all that different.. but it's only one game.

I just hope the no minor penalties was only a fluke. I have all the penalty sliders on max and aggression max.

I've played a couple games so far.. I do notice shots are lower. I used to average 20-40 per team but 2 games so far, highest was 25-19 for cpu, 2nd game 22-21 cpu again, both 6 mins period. A lot more loose pucks. Enjoying it so far.

As for penalties.. on all stars I got 3 against me, one for myself. 2nd game on pro, 3 or 4 for me and 1 from cpu plus a fight (i asked for it by shooting after whistle)

Time to learn goalie controls.
Totally surprised that shoot outs online are now human goalie controlled like last gen
