Reaction to the Latest Madden NFL 13 News with OS Community Quotes Stuck
Posted on May 15, 2012 at 04:25 PM.

In reading all of responses from the OS community, in regards to the latest Madden NFL 13 news, I figured it was a good time to post some of my thoughts and quotes from the community.

The first thing that needs to be addressed, is the Madden NFL 13 gameplay video we released yesterday (no it wasn't fake, as some figured was the case.) Matt Bialosuknia, EA Sports Audio Producer, mentioned on Twitter, it was captured from an older build. So we can relax... a little... Right?

It was very peculiar that there were no mentions of player names, in that specific video. But... If you caught the Madden NFL 13 audio webcast, you can hear them calling out names. In particular, Nantz and Simms called out Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger in one of the intros. (Still not gameplay, but it's there.)

Let's not forget, another gameplay announcement arrives on June 4th, which leads to a lot of speculation. Obviously, they don't want to show that off, just yet.

It was great to hear Nantz interrupt himself as an interception was thrown, almost NBA 2K'ish. There are 82 hours and 9,000 lines of commentary added this year, including the flubbing of words, making it sound realistic and not always precise on every line. Let's hope it carries over into franchise mode.

The authentic quarterback cadences sounded pretty good. Unfortunately, only the "Top 10" quarterbacks will have their cadence in the game. We know Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, and Ben Roethlisberger are in, not sure about the rest of them. Obviously, I'd love to hear Romo and his "Kill! Kill! Kill!" and I'm sure Giants fans will be clamoring for Eli's "Omaha! Omaha!" What are your guesses? Who would you like to hear?

I'd say the community is fairly happy with the Madden team going with their own original score and dumping EA Trax. If interested, you can hear the Madden NFL 13 score in the webcast.

SageInfinite brings up a good point...

Glad they went with a more traditional soundtrack. What does this mean for stadium music though? I would've liked them to comment on that.

Sage, if I recall correctly... When I attended the Madden NFL 13 media day, it was mentioned that none of the custom audio was changed. So there's that...

The new Madden NFL 13 scoreboard banner adjustment was a success, for the most part. A few readers chimed in with some more feedback. It's almost apples to oranges at this point, but it also shows how passionate some of the fan-base is.

As blood9595 mentions...

Still missing possession indicator but looks nice...

Resident graphics guru DeuceDouglas chimes in with his edit below (with possession indicator)...

PGaither84 chimes in with an edit on that edit...

With the recent Madden NFL 13 screenshots, featuring different broadcast booth views with Nantz and Simms. I had to mention a couple of funny posts (or... Maybe they are serious?!?!)

mrmass413 with the obvious question...

Quote:
They always wear the same suits are they ever gonna switch...lol

Kaiser Wilhelm with the Franchise question...

Quote:
The real question is, will they look any older in my 30th year of Franchise?

FieryMurphMan closes it out, with a DLC reference...

Quote:
...you should know that additional suits for both broadcasters will be available as release day DLC. Different options are available for both Simms and Nantz. $2.99 for each suit or $5.99 for a 2 suit pack bundle.

Well, that's the reaction on the latest Madden NFL 13 news from myself and the OS Community. Please chime in with your thoughts.

Never thought about the commentators looking the same 30 years into a franchise.

I know it's not possible now or maybe even with current generation, but that question gave me an idea. Obviously there are current players who are sure bets to become commentators/analysts. Perhaps in future versions they could have a couple of them come in and record like Nantz & Sims did. Then when those players "retire" in game they could take over or be added as a commentary team?
Too much or possible down the road. I think it would be a nice little touch down the road anyway.

my guess is that the commentary has always been recorded without using names and the audio team then plugs the names where needed. for example, you hear them refer to the home team as the "home team." I'm sure this part will get switch with the actual name. Same can probably be said for the commentary over the players as well.

With madden now, That has got to be the worst idea i have ever heard.
Whoa whoa... Now I've been around Madden for a very long time and have heard some pretty messed up ideas and this one doesn't come close to taking the cake... Is it necessary to the integrity of the game? No but it sounds pretty cool and authentic as that is what happens in real. Even still, we probably won't ever see it but it's that kind of thinking that progresses Madden's depth and authenticity... You're just being a party pooper... lol

Fix the gameplay. Simms and Nance could be Chester and Garfunkle dressed in clown outfits for all I care. Just fix the gameplay. It's the reason sports video games were created and we've gone so far from those roots.

Well about time their fixing the commentary. It will bring new life to a much needed part of the game that's been pretty much non existent the past couple of years. Will a physic based engine be announced in June? Only time will tell. I for one hope it's something that changes the way we look at Madden for good.

Commentary seems better but a bit rough. I say fix and enhance the commentary as much as possible. Fix and enhance the game play as much as possible. Fix and enhance the graphics as much as possible. Fix and enhance it ALL!... and we'll have one great football game.

The worst idea you have ever heard? You'll also notice I said "future versions".

The commentary is still trash compared to 2K games. Sure better than the trite we been getting for the last 7 years but still disjointed. They should learn how it was done and do it right. They should sound like they are having a conversation and actually enjoying the game, not like robots.

The 3D representation of them is nice but far from new - check 2K5 for how to do it nicely. Again, read and react - nice feature - but not something new - it's been done before so I hope it works.

I am so tired of EA talking about adding this and that and still giving us a broken game. How bloody hard is it to get it right?

It's going to be a tragedy if Madden lacks in-game updates and a current score banner at the bottom. As much as Madden is held as the main football title, it seems like they're always behind NCAA.

Lol at the release day 2 pack bundle for DLC suits, that sounds like something Capcom would pull in a Street Fighter game. Funny though
