My Madden 11 E3 Thoughts & Looking for Insight on the M11
Posted on June 24, 2010 at 09:17 PM.
After watching numerous videos from E3, here are some thoughts about Madden 11 in my most humble opinion:

*There are more replays (YEAH!)

*Gameflow, while a highly touted new feature, I saw nobody use it.

*Gus Johnson sounds really, really edited....maybe too much (fixable?); Love his addition to the game however.

*There is no huge leap forward graphically

*Halftime show is either non-existent, wasn't shown, or exactly what we viewed in the videos.

*Presentation is still confusing as to what direction they are looking to take it....

*Mystery. Most of what is going to be new in Madden 11 is still a mystery...even after E3. Yes, We know Gameflow and Locomotion. We witnessed a 10minute video of the features and some menu options and it didn't show anything in the Game Modes section (conveniently) nor did it show anything we already have not seen.

Are there going to be more Madden Blogs before the game comes out?

Will there be any bigger announcements yet to come? Or has the game been finalized.

From the videos we have seen is it really something we have to "experience" to understand what has changed?

I look forward to seeing what else comes out about Madden 11.

What are your thoughts about the game so far?

IMO you can cross out "mystery". In the words of Dennis Green "Ea is who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook". Meaning, there will be no mystery. Madden will be exactly what we expect/ed.

Like you said; gameflow, replays, locomotion....and that's all folks.

We can expect the same problems; i.e. poor simulation engine, skewed stats, and the usual suspects with gameplay. It's the same game as last year with a new coat of paint and some new tires, but there's going to be a lot more work to be done.

@superjew887: Sadly it is starting to seem that you may be correct...I guess I am holding out hope for something to happen in July....some sort of news...but their silence is starting to say the good ole words of Dennis Green...

IMHO if Ian and his team were very serious to connect with their hardcore audience they wouldn't have dissapeared like they did. How many blogs did we get this year compared to last year?

It's as if Ian and Triburon decided well screw the hardcore fanbase, we'll cater for the casual gamer and make more money. EA did absolutely nothing this year...no wonder Madden is in the state it's in. Our only hope is that the exclusive deal ends!

@R9NALD9: When does the Exclusive deal end? 12' or 13'?

Hard to really say until people get their hands on the game... Right now, It's not enough for me to purchase yet again.. Is it a bad game?? No... But I have seen issues in the videos released so far that have plagued the series... OL/DL interaction/blocking, Db Ai issues, People breaking tackles like no tomorrow, and QB's dropping back 20 yards while throwing a bullet deep down field... Wait and see here...

@Tim I feel the same way right now. I Pre-Ordered the game this weekend, but not sure if I am going to follow through with the purchase. There are LOTS of issues that are still plaguing the game from the last two years, and the presentation is really lackluster. I am concerned with EA's vision for what a successful NFL game is and what We know to be a successful NFL game. It is definitely going to be an interesting ride.

The broken tackles (especially the Tim Tebow run YUCK) are just disgusting...I really hope they can fix it.

NCAA looks 100x better this yr. Madden this year looks exactly the same as last year. I've always been an EA buyer not 2k but I'm starting to wish this exclusive license stuff never happened. The movement in Madden looks so robotic. The AI defense knows the receivers routes better than the receivers know them, and the penalties are a joke. Holding and clipping is pretty much it.

Madden NFL 12 is the last Madden on this current deal. Our hope is for NFL 2k13. But chances are that the NFL will extend the exclusive deal...sigh
Let's hope and pray

hey bigs...! you know i'm a 2k guy and for the last couple years EA been killing us wit madden, but M11 looks to be very playable this year,on that note....we all see the lil gimmicks like gameflow(ask madden)which the madden vets will simply turn off thats EA for ya...but wit locomotion it actually helps the game play better.

But ya know i refused to buy it....i trade in like 5 of my old games i never play at gamestop for it....& plus Drew Brizzle on the cover so its like a collectable down here in the N.O....but if the gameplay plays like NCAA11 demo it's a playable game, but we all miss 2k NFL football.
