Bolton Earns Automatic Promotion - Finishes Second in FL Championship

It was an up and down season where in the competition and out of it. Swings from 3rd to 8th were quite commmon when coming a win or a loss. After buying Ricky Lambert at the deadline, we were able to settle down with some consistent scoring.

2013 Transactions and Year End Results

I took a minimalist approach to the team this season. I let the CPU handle the rotation and lineup and simmed the year. This let me see what we have and what we need moving forward.

The only major transaction was a waiver claim of brandon league. He was a rough season but we could afford his contract and we needed help in the bullpen. The dodgers simply had no use for his 5.5 ERA.

Record 49-113: Just a terrible season for everyone involved. No deadline deals to be made because trade pieces like Humber and Veras decided to save their "good" pitching for August and September.

The Pre-Season

During the pre-season the Maple Leafs showed plenty of brights spots on their way to a 3-1-0 record. The Lupul-Connolly-Kessel line combined for 14 points during the 4 games while Tyler Bozak impressed on the third line with a point-per-game pace. If he can keep that up, Toronto may find themselves with 3 potential goal-scoring lines. The Defence held firm, helping Optimus Reime to 3 wins and a 2.00 GAA.

On the injury front, winger Clarke MacArthur suffered a herniated a disc. Details are sketchy but we�ve been told that he can expect to miss the first 2-3 weeks of the season. During this time, Colby Armstrong will step in and hope to prove that he has a place on the team.

While speaking at a press conference Mr. Burke noted that while he doesn�t like predicting wins, upper management has a goal of 44 victories this season. With a goaltender that has yet to play a full season and some fresh faces that will need time to create chemistry, this will be a difficult task for the Leafs to complete.

The NHL�s 2011-2012 campaign is shaping up to be one full of surprises. The Maple Leafs come into the season with a young core that looks improve upon last year�s disappointing playoff misfire. A summer of personnel changes has brought aboard two veteran centers in Matt Lombardi and Dave Steckel along with a promising young defenseman in Cody Franson. Having jettisoned veteran keeper J.S. Ciguere at the deadline, GM Brian Burke and Head Coach Ron Wilson have placed an awful lot of pressure on rookie netminder James Reimer. After a promising debut at the end of the 2010-2011 season, Reimer, dubbed �Optimus Reime� by some of his fans, looks to show that he can live up to his potential. With the key pickup of centre Tim Connolly, the Leafs hope to have added a playmaker to the mix that can help feed Phil Kessel the 40 goals that management and fans have been expecting.

With Grabovski and Bozak anchoring the 2nd and 3rd lines, respectively, Lombardi will move to the wing while Steckel will chew up ice time on the 4th line and the Penalty Kill. The odd man out, at this point looks to be winger Colby Armstrong. It remains to be seen whether Coach Wilson will be able to find a place for him or if he will put him on the trading block once the season starts.

Down on the farm, the Marlies are looking to have a great year. The team is chock full of promising athletes. Top ranked prospects, Nazem Kadri and Joe Colborne will get plenty of ice time as the Leafs look to develop these two future stars. Kadri will move to the wing and join Colborne on the first line with Luca Caputi.
