Today the group turns on itself, a crowd of island workers converging on Zinto and threatening him, leering. He fends them off with a scalpel, calling on others to help him and for a moment it seems it will be the case, the group nearly dividing itself in two in a pitched battle.

At the last moment though, Golden Eagle turns snarling on Zinto and drives the scalpel into his own heart. Zinto falls to the ground, quickly bleeding out. The others all stare at each other, some grinning, others alarmed.

Zinto is dead. Zinto was Doctor Mangold.

Things suddenly break out into a wild melee. While someone checks the doctor's credentials, CrimsonFox leaps onto Passacaglia, sinking his sharpened canines into Pass's neck. At the same time GoldenEagle and The Jackal seize Kwhit and Narcizo. They hold them down as Lonestargirl feasts on each in turn. Hours later Mauboy leads the shambling collection of once-humans to the docks and leads them in repairing the wrecked boats they find there. It is difficult work, but the hunger of the Infected drives them. By the time they cross the waters to the mainland, the Infected have all become something else, something less than human, or more than human. The tomb of the mummy lies deserted on the island, open to the wind and rain. But the boatload of Transformed lands on the mainland shore and the group shambles off to the nearest village.

First bhlloy scans my bite choice in Chief. I guess it ended up having a good outcome. It made me NOT a candidate the next 2 days and led to runaway votes with ZERO vote history information.

Then Zinto blocks my bite on Danny night four.

It was thankfully you LSG talking me out of biting Raiders or Zinto and biting GE that kept us going.

The village made some great moves early, good scan choices, and curing Danny the same night he was infected. And Danny did a great job on analysis, using the rules to pin down a very narrow group to vote from.

I felt bad for the bad guys at first who couldn't seem to catch a break, then at the end I felt bad for the good guys who got stuck in a corner. Good play by all. CrimsonFox made a great call last night going for Jackal as an infection to make sure they had the votes today. Things could have gotten messy if they were stuck with a tie.

Yeah there were points that were excrutiating. Just not knowing if certain people were going to be around and such. Blood pressure through the roof.

And then the monsters have to play catch up on 2 seers for nightkills.

And if just ONE of the infected aren't following everything in the thread and choose someone else, the seer gets yet ANOTHER scan.

Add to that the potential that any ONE of the 6 scanners/seers can be up for lynch and reveal not only themselves but everyone they clear + the nurses and doctors getting to doublecheck every scan the nurses made to confirm themselves.

Cause the night before was when I tried to bite you. But then I found out that yes nurses receive their scan results and the doctor did too. Was very depressed from then on.

Yes, but consider the fact that two bad guys got scanned on N1 and N2 and the Mummy was exposed for the Mummy Hunter to off for free, yet the bad guys still managed to win pretty handily. Also consider that many of those scans were only worth a partial scan really given their limit.

The game is also weighted heavily in favor of the bad guys, when you consider that if you get your first couple infections you have a constant supply of Transformed as long as the Mummyholds out. That can be pretty damn tough for the village. They were lucky to catch Chief and then EF and keep that from happening.

That said, I had tweaked the Nurse/Doctor rules a bit to help the village, and think maybe it was too much. Originally each nurse was meant to communicate with only one doctor, which would limit them. In addition I made the Doctors uninfectable. The fear is if they weren't the bad guys could easily fake as doctors or nurses and it would be near impossible to out them (never mind seers). I was surprised there wasn't more fake reveals early in this game, I thought it would be a great move for a Transformed.

I'm interested in feedback on the doctors and nurses though. I think I would probably go back to pairing them up individually. And I wonder if nurses should have been able to see their own results. That turned out to be powerful at the end as it could rule out Transformed.

I think the balance was ok, there was certainly a distinct possibility for one side to have a huge advantage based on the first couple days, but I don't know how you would remove that in a game like this. If crimson ends up lynched day 1, it's probably an easy village win in the end

Oh yeah the other thing I think need analyzing was the order. That along with the other things was devastatingly powerful.
I spoke with you about this earlier and abided by your ruling and decision and all but I think it need analysis.

So order is:
1) Bite
2) Cure
3) View
4) Nightkill

So that means if:
1, then 2...an instant cure. Like Danny
1, then 3...instant scan...Like Chief
2, then 4...a scanner can cure someone on the way out...Like Zinto curing Narcizo

all those things fit the order.
But then something like...
1, then 4...biting then killing if the victim was not cured....that should ALSO be valid if the above was valid. This would have given Chief a night kill first night before being outted for lynch vote the next day. Now I understand since the deadlines are what they are, Chief couldn't put in a night kill order while the night actions were happening, then either some delayed NK should have been worked into the rules or else if things are happening at the same time then the stuff above shouldn't have all been allowed either. I don't know. Something needs to be fixed with that I think. Some special doohickey for that case. Cause this along with the 7 scanners with 4 linked was megapowerful.

I started the game out unable to really get into it. But then as soon as i was outed i just figured that i would let it all hang out. I wanted to cause as much confusion as possible amongst the village.

With the lsg save, that was just a fun game of chicken. I wanted to keep danny second guessing himself. ;-)

Those two indeed are so dangerous...but now I at least see reason to keep Danny in the game to lead people off cliffs and junk.

Oh definitely! I'm not suggesting that. Bite then scan yeah I see no problem with that. I think it lies more in giving the bad team a kill of some kind somehow.

So some combination of that, removing the 2 free scans for the professors and not tying the doctors and nurses together so strongly I think would be more fair. Yeah, I think I agree about the nurses, though makes them useless if their doctor dies. Maybe leave them grouped as they were, but not seeing their own scans.

The only time the kill order thing would cause a problem is if you have no Infected, so I don't really see that as a big disadvantage. Getting your very first Infected scanned the very first night should be a big problem for the bad guys. But since you could end up with half a dozen Infected, I don't think it's a big long-term problem.

I keep thinking these games wouldn't be spoiled as much if they weren't werewolf voting type games and more like abe's damage-based dungeon based games :)

Another rebuttal to your 6 (or 7) scanner comment CF is that the doctors and nurses couldn't find transformed or mummies. You and LSG were scanned by either a nurse or doctor and that didn't help the village in any way.

I do agree that nurses probably shouldn't have gotten their own scan results for what it's worth. It's like they could reveal for the doctor while the doctor could keep their identity safe (other than to give full verification to what the nurse claimed). Having both nurses reporting to one doctor early was arguably helpful for the village because even though we could only cure one infected a night, Zinto was working with twice as much information and could make more informed choices as to who to cure (of course, the nurses could have been converted and that would've moot also).

I would also like to thank the wolves for not converting me N1-N3 (I was nervous when I got the night 3 PM from Autumn). I was thinking to myself I had no idea what I should do if I were infected...they probably had the toughest job out there.

Maybe it's because I didn't end up infected, but I for one enjoyed the rule set quite a bit.

Great game monsters, I never even had you on my radar Crimson. And of course, nicely played fake reveal mauboy.

I ended up liking the ruleset, I think any skewing of the balance came from so many roles being outed early, greatly reducing the chance of an infection failing or the mummy being weakened.

I ordered kills on Raiders and Cougar so they were probably down to me. I was pretty sure that they hadn't been infected, which was the main thing. That was pretty much the best I could work with. I also thought there was a chance that they might have roles.

Yes, having Zinto get two reports really helped the village. It could serve as an infection detector as he'd know right away if either got infected when he stopped receiving results. Nobody picked up on his comment about only getting one result day one, which was of course because there was another doctor alive day one.

I was impressed with the monsters getting the win here because I felt at the end just the info that the village had to work with made it very difficult to hide and it was really too late to fake much.

Mauboy did a fantastic job with the Cultist role, just exactly what you'd want out of that. I love cultists because it's in the village's best interest to just ignore them but it's so difficult to do.

Things started really quickly. It would be interesting to see how things would have gone with less reveals early. The village also got really quiet only a few days in. This would have been a great game for some fake reveals, paranoia, etc. A Transformed pretending to be a seer and getting an Infected lynched would have been a great early move I think, as until another seer died no one would be the wiser.

oh yeah, the one move i made that day heh. Everyone spent all morning talking about how they distrsted simbo's story and how they trusted mau's. But no one would vote. And people started voting outside of those two. It would have been a disaster if either mau or simbo were not lynched because then the infected would have to guess. So I voted for mau. Sure enough, people yelled at me and started voting simbo.

At this point in time with EF having more of a chance being an infected than Simbo. Simbo is fake revealing which isn't going to be an infected saying that. It's a transformed or the mummy.

I was early to jump on the EF wagon last night because I didn't think it would matter either way and the quick nightfall vote ruined that for me. I saw people unvoting nightfall yesterday so I assumed that I'd be able to as well. It doesn't matter to me a whole lot if we go EF tonight and Simbo tomorrow but honestly Simbo's fake reveal tells me we have something here.

Incredibly good sense coming right here, just about everything I thought about in the car on the way home- though I really don't want a Doctor cure as I'm not infected, and would hate to see something that can help us go to waste.

Here's the rest of what I'd say:

You have your trusted Seer with a good result that he announced he was doing beforehand, reducing the probability that Wolves would select him for an infection.

Right after that, mau comes out and reveals me, and even tries to throw some suspicion on bhlloy.

I put out an immediate defense for every question you guys had-

Why would mau choose me? (Ill-fated teamup in the Dungeon... won't mention the fact that the only true WW game I've played here so far resulted in a shutout victory for my team... Or maybe I just did. ;))

Look back, I explicitly stated that I was worried about bhlloy revealing his random viewing after he outed himself as the Professor, because it might be a roled villager. Why would I say that? Because I got him, and as the other Professor, I thought it was possible that Autumn just gave us each other as a "the professors would know each other" thing, and I wanted to stay out of the spotlight.

The logic is all there, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
