I don't mean keep doing the same trick over and over, I just mean that somebody who might be "button mashing" might be trying to do multiple different tricks in one jump. Instead of doing a Rocket, Method, and Stiffy in one jump, just do the Rocket (along with your misty/rodeo flips as well), and make it last until you hit the snow. Next jump, just do the Method. By that point you should have your Tricky boost full anyway, so start doing some uber tricks.

By the way, I just spent 519,000 credits on a "surprise suit" for Mac. I thought it was going to give me automatic full headlamp life or something. Instead it's just some glowing suit with a boost bonus. What a waste... not even a "Mystery Box" trophy or something.

I know for the player it does cash in the string and take your added up score of tricks multiplied by your combo score. For the CPU I wouldn't be surprised if it updated their score regularly. After all the CPU has already determined in advance what kind of run the AI is going to have.

Re: Official SSX Impressions

The problem is the AI isn't AI. It's not dynamic. They should be able to mess up,go off course, take different lines and so on,which again,I've only seen once...not magically get 155k in 2 seconds because that's what they're supposed to do when it's not even possible for a player to do.

Randomly button mash IS the way.
But yes link them so the mutliplier goes up.

In fact, I also beat the Wingsuit (which I love), Thin Air, and Cold ones on my first try as well. The only ones I had problems with on the first few tries was Trees, if I remember correctly.
Oh I beat the wingsuit descent in one try too (well maybe two),it was the race that was the problem.
Avalanche is difficult because I can't see what the heck I'm doing. If I can't land tricks because I can't see then I can't get boost, even though random button mashing is the best thing for actual tricks still need to see to land the spins/flips,if I can't get boost I can't win the race. In the case of the others if I can't see I'll fall in a hole.

This is completely on point. One long trick gets you more points then doing small multiple tricks. Button mashing and pulling multiple tricks will make your combo multiplier go up but you'll be multiplying tiny trick scores instead of lower multipliers but much larger trick scores.

Also I'm pretty sure the more complicated grabs, the ones that you do two inputs in quick succession, give more points then the one input type. Rotations and flips add to your points also so make sure you wind up your jump as much as you can so you can spin/flip faster.

Re: Official SSX Impressions

I don't know, I still think it's pretty interesting that you find some of these things extremely difficult to "see" or whatever.

In fact, I just played through Africa (yes, since I last posted about just playing in Alaska) and just beat the Darkness thing on my first try... without a headlamp. You can even see the trophy I just earned for it, I got it on the first try. I attempted it after doing the trick event prior to it with a headlamp, and saying to myself: "Gee, it's still plenty easy enough to see what's in front of you." I don't know if it's because I have a plasma so it has great black levels or what, but I don't have to raise my brightness at all. I mean, beating the event where you need a headlamp and not using it? I'd say seeing must be somewhat possible in other events.

You might need a new TV.

Lionsfan (or anyone)... What do you mean by nosepress/tailpress to link tricks. I know how to do it, I just don't understand, doesn't that slow you way down? Like can you land and go straight into a press-move to keep that trick going>

I'm able to gold and diamond (?) ridernet trick events but not platinum (?) without nosepressing in my lines and whatnot, but is that the difference for me not being at the top of the leaderboards?

If you want to keep a combo going between jumps, you'll need to start grinding or pressing on either end of your board. Otherwise, your combo multiplier will snap.

keeping nose/tail presses every so often between jumps keeps the combo multiplier from breaking like he said. But you're right too long and it slows you down. I only do it when i don't have a good jump lined up quick or can't find a good quarterpipe like wall to trick off of.
