Maybe if this was basketball but football players wear helmets 99% of the time. With that said these graphics look much better than the GI version.

This is a legit picture(or so the evidence points that way)

If you notice behind his head there looks like there is a cannon from the side of a boat, obviously located around the top of the stadium. (although this stadium has not been confirmed, it is well know by now how over the top the stadiums will be.
Also, there is a guy in a yellow shirt in the background that looks extremely familiar- and it should- that same sideline security guy model that was used in 2K5.
Another thing, Do you still have those pictures saved from the GI article? IF so, look at the color scheme used on the red and blue uniforms- they match the same color scheme that is on the right side of this picture. It looks to be a jersey, with the same color scheme!!!

We've seen the graphics for NG NBA 2K7 so that could MOST DEFINITELY be real. Like someone said earlier, it does look like a 2k7 head shot.
