Re: Direction of Future 2K Football Games

lets pray that EA dont try and stop them from making a game next year because i read a post on here and the ceo of ea sports is quoted as saying he is trying to make this game not "repeatable".

that being said i would love to have a franchise in the game, just use the eras the people played in such as 40-50 and make these players in the late 30's so that they could retire and so forth and so on. i would love to see as stated above more customizations but they have to be careful because the slightess hint of nfl could be devastating because ea is definitely trying to "kill" the competition. i also would like to see a generic draft. this will be awesome. i found some generic players that are great in this game. i have tons of ideas but this is not the place to display them. great post good ideas maybe 2k will see them and add them next year if possible.(dont mean to sound so serious but i love 2k games and we already witnessed ea's power before, and i dont want to have to go without REAL FOOTBALL SIM again.)

I like the legends aspect but i would like to see a totally customizable game. Even if you didn't try to recreate the NFL you could do whatever you wanted to do with it. One thing that has to stay is the ratings system. I think it is truly genius and wonderful way to seperate players from each other.

Re: Direction of Future 2K Football Games

The ratings system still needs work. Instead of just listing attributes they should list what the player is good at, then have another list of what the player is bad at. Derrick Thomas for example, is a monster in this game. He can sack the QB as well as tear up and down the field tackling RB's and WR's. In reality, he was a sack specialist and was a liability against the run, but because the game doesn't say "bad against the run" he's still good agaisnt it. That combined with his speed makes him better than he really was.

The more I play this game, the more I am excited about it's immediate future. If they can tweak the gameplay and upgrade the graphics, add more features, this will probably be the greatest football game ever. I hope I don't sound like I am overstating, but this is a good game. And this is coming from someone who didn't really like NFL2K5.

Re: Direction of Future 2K Football Games

I voted for the "NFL" idea, but I do like the legends, and I don't even need them to make it even remotely resemble the NFL at the outset. Just give the users the ability to edit things in the manner we want. Players, rules (to some degree), teams, the whole shebang. Maybe CFL-style fields is going too far, and I don't really mind if it's not included, but that sort of variety would really make the game unique and even more interesting.

Then we'd see things like option files in Winning Eleven, with all sorts of leagues and scenarios being created. From all-time teams to the WFL, and everything in-between. Or players could focus on the legends and still run a season or hopefully franchise based around them. The versatility would be a massive help, and would make even a bare-bones franchise mode shine with the incredible replay value of playing in completely different leagues for years at a time.

I'd like to see 2k9 as fully customizable generics then go with legends again in 2k10 then keep alternating back and forth. I don't see myself by 2k9 if its legends again, even though I love 2k8.

The only thing EA can do to 2K is make a Madden so good that no one will want a 2K football game....THAT, will never happen.

While I enjoy the Legends aspect, I'd actually prefer to at least have the option of playing with a whole league of generic players...kind of like what Sierra did with Frontpage Sports until they antyed up for the NFL license. It would be a kind of alternate NFL with the same rules and regulations, just different players and coaches. FPS did a great job of this....drafts, retirements, season and career ending injuries. They even had their own Hall of Fame. You really dont need the NFL to make a great football game with lasting replayability.
