Generics should have more individuality

I know that having generics was meant to emphasize the impact of the legends more, but, I still think that the generics should have some kind of background (made up, of course), attributes, or characteristics that separate them from other generics. Even if that means making them watered down versions of real players.

In some situations it's extremely frustrating to have, I guess I could say, a complete stranger on my team. For instance on offense,
I usually use most of my legend picks for the O-line, with at least one legend receiver. However, third and longs are usually a crap shoot, If all of the focus is being put on my one good receiver, then I really don't know who the next reliable player is.

I think if there is any future installments of the game, more detail should be added to the generics.

Re: Generics should have more individuality

No disrespect to you or any one else who plays sports games, but too many times guys just look for a money play with their guy and not just come up with a play that best fit the situation and find a weakness in the d that does not envolve only their best player. If you pick wisely what type of generics you have on the team, whether they be possesion wide receivers or deep threat, then they can be pretty usefull.

However in terms of names personality I totally understand what you are saying. I was at one point really happy with this generic receiver and punter I had with my giants team I made, then when I adjusted the team colors and uni poof I lost them.

yeah the thing that sucks the worst is how they change when you edit your team. I actually liked my generic QB, yet he's gone forever. It makes it hard to get attached anymore.

I understand what you are saying but it's kind of fun finding out what the generics can do. I had a generic dafety (Matt Carol) who sick and was everywhere on the field. I also had a very good kicker. But it does suck that when you make changes you haver to learn your generics all over again.

Re: Generics should have more individuality

Yea and then you find out that all of your generics are the exact same players on every other team, especially online. How many generics can you name that you see on every team?

Well, the kickers....Lindstrom, Barrow...can't remember the others right now

WRs.....Redman, Isom,

TE.......Baker, Knutson

Same with the guys in the secondary, can't think of specific names right now though. You get the picture. How freaking annoying.

Exactly. I had a linebacker named Pete Carroll, which I thought was pretty funny, but then I edited my uniforms and the guy was lost to the sands of time. Kind of... depressing, actually.

They really should have tiers or some other way of showing which attributes, if any, generics have. Say, B is a really good generic, and D is a backup-level generic; or one generic is fast, and another's more of a possession type you can come to rely on when it's third and short. Then you can figure out what the hell the difference is, if any.

Not even being able to see an info card about them is pretty weak, too, and it's one of the things that makes the game feel incomplete (like the lack of a main menu screen, for instance).
