So, I'm reading the Madden Forums and watching it all meltdown as folks learn that Madden '09 isn't going to have CPU sliders.

I'm happy that I got away from Madden. I got APF2K8 last year and after playing Madden since the Genesis days, I have not looked back. The focus of my play has been online, however I'm thinking about starting a season.

Just wishing APF2K9 was an option.

Could not agree more man.

I haven't bought a madden game since 2004 and this year I was actually getting my hopes up.

Oh well. Guess its back to APF until NHL 09 drops.

Re: Random thought

I started a new APF season with my new squad, because APF is so great at indiviualizing players it feels fresh.

Re: Random thought

If we could get a patch for APF, and some answers to basic questions regarding some of the Player Abilities, then APF2K8 would hold me over for at least another year, easily.

I certainly wasnt going to buy this year (no significant changes) but I was interested in the direction they were headed and was very interested in what would come next year, but it looks like business as usual at EA.

Also interesting that forum golden boy Ian from EA sat on this information for weeks, and only fessed up when it leaked from other sources, so much for an honest dialog.
After NCAA, It will be telling how this effects OS's review. (my moneys on 'not at all')

I love EA, much better than Cats, Im going to buy their games again and again.

Yeah, that part is annoying that they weren't up front with the sliders, or lack thereof.

I, too, was really looking forward to '09 as I haven't had an NFL game since 2K5. I'll still give it a rental, but we'll see if it warrants a purchase.

Thankfully APF is still around. I still have 2K5, too, just haven't been able to get updated rosters on it yet.

Re: Random thought

I grabbed an X-port a few months back for $30 and was thinking that maybe Id wasted my money, but between NCAA and now the slider thing its looking like a very wise investment.

Ive come to the conclusion that tiburon just doesnt have the ability to develop an alternative to 2K(or much of anything). A change in developers is in order at this point.

I love EA, much better than Cats, Im going to buy their games again and again.
