Texas Chronicle

After months of waiting Football is back! The Houston Texans wasted no time in trimming down their roster while adding a few key free agents. Of those who were cut is 9 year vet Ronnie Brown (RB).

"Its always tough when you have to cut anyone." Said Coach Martinez Friday night "but its part of the job."

Others who were cut were:

WR Joe Adams
TE Jonthan Weeks
LT Will Yeatman
DT David Hunter
TE Zach Potter
MLB Mike Mohamed
MLB Justin Tuggle
MLB Jeff Tarpinian
OLB Ricky Sapp
CB Josh Victorian

The Texans did add WR Sidney Rice to a 1 year deal.

Rice missed most of last year with the Seahawks due to an ACL tear but he has been cleared for practice and games by the Texans staff.

"Im ready to get on the field, its been to long and I just cant wait for the season to start. I hope to be a leader for the younger guys here but I am also hoping to learn from Andre Johnson as well" Rice said at his press conference.

Tonight the Texans take on the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona for the first Pre Season game of the year. Tune in to 1280 The Zone for Pre Game and post game interviews and thoughts.

Re: Texans Home Page

Welcome to 1280 The Zone!

What a great way to start the Pre Season! The Texans go on the road and put up a great performance and will go home with a 17-3 win over the Cardinals.

What stood out!

QB

A great passing performance by Case Keenum going 12 for 17 with 192 yards passing and 1 td. After the game he had this to say.

"It felt good to go out there and get some reps. I know Ryan is the starter but it felt good to have a good performance and walk away with a W."

Defense

The defense as a whole unit really stood out! Only allowing 3 points they gave the Cardinals fits all night.

"The defense looked prepared and they came out attacking. I liked what I saw early but there is still a lot of room for improvement." Romeo Crennel

Game Ball

A new segment of the show where each week we pick out the most deserving of the game ball.

This week it goes to Mike Thomas (WR)

Mike only played on 12 downs but managed to catch 3 passes for 92 yards. Mike is currently 6th on the depth chart but came out with something to prove tonight!

Congrats to Mike!

Thanks for joining us here on 1280 The Zone catch us next week as we preview week 2 of the preseason.
