In the EPL there are no trades and draft, you can only transfer or loan players.

In another thread someone said that we win credits by playing games and that gives us the ability to pickup free agents.

The devs is where this information comes from. I don't remember what interview it was, but one of them said you earn credits and as you get into the better leagues(16,32) you buy better players so you can (try) to compete with the better teams in those leagues. Although that doesn't rule out contracts or trades.
