With the trade deadline drawing near, I talked with the Kansas City Royals about the availability of starting pitcher Andy Hassler. To go along with a prospect and cash, Kansas City wants either starting pitcher Dennis Eckersley, reliever Bob Stanley or center fielder Fred Lynn.

Unfortunately, Dwight Evans left the game in the bottom of the 4th with a fractured wrist and was placed on the 15-day DL after the game.
