Paul Bako went 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs in leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-5 victory over the Florida Marlins in the first game of a 4-game series. Joey Votto had a home run and 2 RBIs and Corey Patterson had a solo HR for the Reds. Mike Jacobs drove in 3 runs with Cody Ross and Dallas McPherson also driving in a run for the Marlins.

After the game, we announced that pitcher Kent Mercker was designated for assignment. Mercker was 0-0 with an 8.10 ERA in six games.

Cody Ross went 3-4 with a pair of home runs, one a grand slam, and drove 7 runs to lead the Florida Marlins to an 8-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Josh Willingham also drove in a run for Florida. Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey each had a solo homer for the Cincinnati runs. Ken Griffey's home run was his 600th of his career.

Brandon Phillips belted a solo homer off Florida reliever Taylor Tankersley (2-1) to break a 3-3 tie and Ryan Freel added a 2-run pinch hit single later in the inning to give the Cincinnati Reds a 6-3 win over the Florida Marlins and a split of the 4-game series. Johnny Cueto (2-4) went 8 innings, striking out 11 and allowing 3 runs and 5 hits, and was named the player of the game. Jeff Keppinger and Joey Votto also drove in runs for the Reds. Hanley Ramirez had a 2-run triple and Cody Ross drove in a run to account for the Marlins' runs.

Cleveland's Shin-Soo Choo was selected the AL Player of the Week after rocking opposing pitching for a .458 average (11-24), 2 HRs and 8 RBIs.
Atlanta's Mark Teixeira was selected the NL Player of the Week after racking up 15 hits in 29 at bats, 3 HRs and 14 RBIs last week in 7 games.

5/18 - The doctors have spoken and Wes Littleton of the Texas Rangers didn't like what he heard. The 25-year old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year with a ruptured tricep tendon and would be absent for at least 8 months

can't believe what a great start the braves got off to, only to have their .800 winning percentage drop down to more normal records.

also, excuse me if i missed something vital, but why do you keep on posting the statistics of the philadelphia phillies alongside your reds?

Out of the Park 9 allows you everything that Front Office Manager does, except graphics when playing/managing the games. Out of the Park also allows you to travel back in time (see my history & Red Sox 1978+ threads) and recreate, and/or even change, history.
