Joey Votto had a home run and 2 RBIs and Corey Patterson had a solo HR for the Reds. Mike Jacobs drove in 3 runs with Cody Ross and Dallas McPherson also driving in a run for the Marlins.

After the game, we announced that pitcher Kent Mercker was designated for assignment. Mercker was 0-0 with an 8.10 ERA in six games.

Johnny Cueto (2-4) went 8 innings, striking out 11 and allowing 3 runs and 5 hits, and was named the player of the game. Jeff Keppinger and Joey Votto also drove in runs for the Reds. Hanley Ramirez had a 2-run triple and Cody Ross drove in a run to account for the Marlins' runs.
