REDBIRDS FAIL TO GET SWEEP

APRIL 15, 2009--Rookie Mitchell Boggs had another strong start for the Cardinals, but the rest of the team failed to produce as the Arizona Diamondbacks went on to win 5-3, avoiding the sweep.

New addition Rafael Perez did not pitch, but he'll definitely get his chances against the Cubs in the next series. Shortstop Brendan Ryan also went down with injury, so Khalil Greene might be called up from Memphis in order to get help at shortstop if Ryan can't play against the Cubs. No news on his injury were released.

CARPENTER'S STRUGGLES CONTINUE AS CARDS WIN

APRIL 16, 2009--Chris Carpenter had yet another weak performance to add to an already miserable start of a season, as he gave up 10 hits and 6 runs, playing 4.2 innings before the bullpen stepped in. And this time the bullpen delivered, allowing no hits through the game. Ryan Franklin was able to pick up his fourth save.

Despite Carpenter's bad performances, manager Tony LaRussa and everyone else in the organization says that the ace pitcher's going nowhere. According to them, this is all because of the numerous injuries that Carpenter has suffered throughout his career, and that the former level of play from the star will be seen sooner rather than later.

The rest of the rotation has been doing an excellent job on the mound, especially Joel Pineiro, who's the third starter in the rotation.

Albert Pujols seems to be stepping out of his slump again, as he went 3-for-5 and hit a solo home run.

As you might have noticed, this has been on a bit of a hiatus. I've still been playing games, but school work has been overwhelming, so I haven't had the time for updates here. I will most likely post a report card of how my April went, and then I'll be doing game reports after that. This is not dead.
