Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

The exhibitions are on exhibit where they belong, so now it's time to get going for real in the 2010 season. Joe Girardi looks to have the club ready for the grueling six-month campaign, Carsten Charles Sabathia will get the ball on opening day which is a surprise to most. A few hot questions from the media are: Who emerges for the offense first? Will the team be able to defend their World Series title? Derek Jeter answered with: "All these questions and more will be answered in the coming days, weeks, and months, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!"

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Courtesy of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Mike Cameron showing off the "last line of defense" mentality, but was not enough to stop the Teix message.

New York victorious over AL East foe Boston.

Under the lights and on the road in Boston, the Yankees scored a 4-1 win over the Red Sox in front of a mostly mad crowd of 37,00 fans at Fenway Park. Mark Teixeira launched a solo home run and collected two other hits in the victory. C.C. Sabathia was roughed up for 8 hits over 5 and a third innings, but only allowed one run and got the win. His first of the season with plenty of bullpen support.

The series continues under the lights tonight, with A.J. Burnett (0-0, 0.00) going for the Yankees against Jon Lester (0-0, 0.00) and the Red Sox.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

El Capitan shows you that you don't win 4 Gold Gloves by accident.

Dustin Pedroia admires his 4th inning home run.

Yankees lose to Red Sox who even at 1-1 on the series with a home victory.

In front of mostly 37,000 ecstatic fans at Fenway Park tonight, the Yankees were defeated 10-4 by the Red Sox. Robinson Cano had 3 hits in 4 at-bats to spur on the offense. A.J. Burnett (0-1) got the call, but perhaps he should have called in sick, as he pitched only 3 and a third innings, giving up 6 runs and 9 hits, to take the loss. After the game the media caught up with Robinson Cano, who had this to say, "We knew going in runs would be short supply against a southpaw like Jon Lester. Hats off to him for getting the win."

The two teams finish off this exciting series tomorrow night with Andy Pettitte (0-0, 0.00) and Tim Wakefield (0-0, 0.00) the scheduled starters.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Jorge Posada showing us that defense is part of his skill set.

Tim Wakefield with a very focused look just before getting his 10th K on the night.

Andy Pettitte roughed up as the Yankees fall to the Red Sox.

Playing long into the night on the road, the Yankees couldn't pull it out against the Red Sox, losing 7-6 in 12 innings. Mark Teixeira collected 2 hits -- including a home run -- and 3 RBI in 6 at-bats to spur the offense. Chan Ho Park was saddled with the loss in relief, as he worked 1 and two thirds innings out of the bullpen in extra innings. The media caught up with Chan Ho Park after the game and asked him about his team's efforts. He replied with: "The bullpen didn't get the job done today, but give the Red Sox credit where it's due."

The Yankees will be in Tampa Bay tomorrow night with the Rays, as Javier Vazquez (0-0, 0.00) is slated to face Jeff Niemann (0-0, 0.00) in the first game.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

El Capitan shows you how his ballerina lessons pay off.

Evan Longoria is about to get mobbed at the plate after hitting the walk-off home run.

Bullpen follies too much for Yankees, as they fall to Rays.

The Yankees worked overtime last night, but it was the Rays who eventually won the AL East contest 11-10, in 12 innings. Sergio Mitre was saddled with the loss in relief, as he worked 1 and two thirds innings out of the bullpen in extra innings. Derek Jeter picked up 1 RBI and 3 hits to spark the club offensively.

The Yankees and Rays play again tonight at Tropicana Field, as New York sends Phil Hughes (0-0, 0.00) to the mound against Wade Davis (0-0, 0.00) in game 2 of the series.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

C.C. delivers a pitch in the first inning of his complete game 5 hit shutout.

Robbie Cano shows that working with Kevin Long in the off season has payed off. As he is able to connect for his first home run of the season.

In a rout, Yankees soundly victorious over the Rays.

Today at Tropicana Field the visiting Yankees destroyed the Rays 7-0, giving the 32,836 fans on hand at Tropicana Field little to be happy about. Getting the win was C.C. Sabathia, who gave up no runs on 5 hits en route to getting his 2nd win of the season. Robinson Cano gave the club a spark offensively, getting 2 hits -- including a solo home run --- in 4 at-bats. When asked about his team's performance, Robinson Cano said, "We had it all going today, and if we could play like this every game, we all would be very rich men. Well, richer than we already are, that is."

The series wraps up later this evening, with A.J. Burnett (0-1, 16.20) set to work against James Shields (1-0, 1.23) and the Rays.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

A-Rod showing us that he didn't lose his Gold Glove when he made the move to 3rd.

Carl Crawford showing us why he will be a key Free Agent when he hits the market this off season.

Key divisional game goes south for New York, who loses to Tampa Bay.

The Yankees couldn't do much against the Rays tonight, losing to the Rays by a 9-5 count in a contest of AL East foes. Carrying the load for the offense, Alex Rodriguez smashed 2 home runs and drove in 3 runs on the day. A.J. Burnett (0-2) drew the starting assignment and gave up only 4 hits, but he couldn't get past 3 innings, as he allowed 4 runs in defeat. The media caught up with A-Rod and asked him about the game, and had this to say, "A.J. Burnett didn't have his best stuff today and we didn't get the offense to bail him out."

The Yankees begin a series with the Angels tomorrow night at Yankee Stadium, with Andy Pettitte (0-0, 9.00) and Joe Saunders (0-0, 18.00) scheduled to start.
