"History" of baseball

I am thinking of doing a "history" of baseball starting in 1901 thru 2010 or whenever I run out of players.

How would you like the "rookies" to begin their careers, on the original team or through an entry draft?

Also with free agency throughout the history or after 1975?

Since the vote was a whopping 1-1 tie here and 2-2 tie over at the other site, though there were over 100 views, here is what I have decided.

1.) The players will enter the league on their origional teams through 1964. Starting in 1965, they will enter the league through an amateur (first-year) draft. That was the RL first year for the draft.

2.) The other vote was to start free agency when it occured in RL.


In other words, my "history" will follow what happened in RL in regards to player entry and free agency. The only difference will be the timing of the player entry. The default of the introduction of the player pool is mid-season and I will have it during the off season in order to insure that the players debut in their actual year and not a year earlier.

There were two more votes on the other site to make it 4-2 over there in favor of having the players come in on their origional team. There will be no draft.
