Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

Following a 61-101 season, the Seattle Mariners looked like they were gonna turn their season around by going 85-77 a 24 game improvement, but that was not the case, in 2010 they repeated their 2008 performance by going 61-101 again. Can the Mariners turn thier team around and get back into winning ways? Tune in soon.

Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

After firing Don Wakamatsu torwards the end of the season, the Mariners were in search of a manager in the off season, and they found one in Eric Wedge, who was the Indians manager from 2002-2009, Wedge led the Indians to the post season in 2007 with a record of 96 and 66, he also took home the manager of the year award. Wedge has a pretty good win/loss ratio at .495 and hes an old school coach, he plays hard nosed baseball, aswell as fundamentle baseball and that might just be what the Mariners need. Will Wedge turn things around? will he be fired like all the other 8 coaches before him, Tune in soon.

Wedge beign introduced as a Mariner.

2/15/11- Mariners great, and Hall of famer Ken Griffey JR (The Kid) announced that he is coming back to the Mariners as a special consultant. If you dont know already Ken Griffey JR was drafted in 1987 in the first round. He went on to play for the Mariners, Reds, and White sox, Griffey has 630 HR, 1836 RBI, .284 average, and was one of the most electrifying, and exciting defender and offender ever. Griffey Also he has been in 13 allstar games, won the Silver Slugger award 7 times, 5th in all time homeruns, 48th in all time basehits, 1 MVP in 1997, 12th in total bases, 7th in least amount of errors by an outfielder, 10 gold gloves, and is 4th all time in frielding percentage at .997.

Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

After Jose Lopez, aswell as others got traded or, cut, the Mariners did quite a bit of signing this off season, includeing Jody Gerut OF, Nate Robertson P, Adam Kennedy 2B, Jack Cust DH, and Brendan Ryan SS/2B. Also the M's are moving Chine Figgins back to 3B, and let Ryan, kennedy, or even Ackley (if he does good enough in the off season) be 2B.

Brendan Ryan making a sensational dive.

Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

Prospects that may be contending for a starting job Include Michael Pineda, Dustin Ackley, Josh Lueke, Mike Carp, and Greg Halman. If they do not win a starting spot at the begging of the season most likely a few if not all of them will be called up during the season if they preform well enough.

Ackley in AAA.

Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

Biggest Question marks- Jack Wilson and Milton Bradley are the two biggest concerns for the Mariners, Last year Bradleys off field actions and his health limited him to just 73 games. Jack Wilson Was traded for by the Mariners in 2009 has been plagued by injurys. Wilson has only started 61 games for the Mariners in 2 seasons! While he was healthy Wilson hit .249 with 48 hits in 193 at bats. Bradley has played for Wedge before in Clevland, and Wedge traded him, will Bradley and Wedge get along or will Bradley get traded again? Tune in soon.

Wilson trying to turn the double play.

Re: Finally getting the M's a ring

Gerut retires? Today Jody Gerut 33, announced his retirement. Jody said "that he lost his passion for the game, and was just playing for the paychecks" This coming after the Mariners signed Gerut to a minor league deal, and giving him the possibility to contend for a back up role on the Mariners roster. Gerut in his 6 seasons in the Majors had a .262 BA, with 59 HR, and 226 RBI, and a .989 fielding percentage.
