2012
Reds 83-79
2012 was another mediocre, under achieving season for the Reds. The team was led by solid years offensively by Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and FA OF Johnny Damon. However, aging 3B Scott Rolen and 2B Brandon Phillips struggled at the plate. The Reds are high on young SS Billy Hamilton who played 149 games at SS and hit .300 in his first full big league season.
The Reds pitching was led by Johnny Cueto who finished 14-9, 3.71 ERA. Edinson Volquez was 10-10 and spent time on the DL. Young Travis Wood struggled in stints between AAA and the Reds. He was only 1-8 for the Reds with an ERA over 5. Homer Bailey also disappointed with 10-9 record and 5.35 ERA. The Reds hope that some of their young arms in the minors will be ready for the 2013 season.
