"And This One Belongs To The Reds", Cincinnati Reds Franchise: MLB The Show 2k11

I am about to start the 2015 season of my Reds franchise. I have simmed the second half of seasons once I felt I was out of post season contention.

In the next few posts, I will give a little background on previous seasons so that you all will know some of the history of this franchise.

Re: "And This One Belongs To The Reds", Cincinnati Reds Franchise: MLB The Show 2k11

2011

Reds 81-81

The Reds entered 2011 with high expectations after such a solid 2010 season. The Reds finished April 16-10 getting some good pitching. The Reds held ground in May as well. However, a June swoon was key factor in the Reds disappointing season losing 8 or 10 and another stretch losing 7 of 10, winning only 10 games in June. After that, Cincinnati was never able to rebound, losing 11 of 12 in August to put them completely out of the race to return to the Playoffs.

Re: "And This One Belongs To The Reds", Cincinnati Reds Franchise: MLB The Show 2k11

2012

Reds 83-79

2012 was another mediocre, under achieving season for the Reds. The team was led by solid years offensively by Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and FA OF Johnny Damon. However, aging 3B Scott Rolen and 2B Brandon Phillips struggled at the plate. The Reds are high on young SS Billy Hamilton who played 149 games at SS and hit .300 in his first full big league season.
The Reds pitching was led by Johnny Cueto who finished 14-9, 3.71 ERA. Edinson Volquez was 10-10 and spent time on the DL. Young Travis Wood struggled in stints between AAA and the Reds. He was only 1-8 for the Reds with an ERA over 5. Homer Bailey also disappointed with 10-9 record and 5.35 ERA. The Reds hope that some of their young arms in the minors will be ready for the 2013 season.

Joey Votto still led the team in offense despite missing 40 games with a wrist injury.
The Reds are optimistic about the future of their rotation but will need to find some more offense in the lineup to go with Votto.

Reds 88-74
Coming off a terrible 2013 season, the Reds made sure not to repeat such a season anytime soon. The team knowing they needed some power added to the lineup, signed FA 3B Mark Reynolds, the AL HR champ 2 seasons ago. Reynolds hit 36 HR and drove in 100 for the Reds.
The club got a nice boost in 2014 from some of their minor leaguers who saw significant playing time in the Reds lineup. Todd Frazier popped 20 homers playing several positions, and Yonder Alonzo smacked 22 homers and knocked in 86 runs while hitting near .300 as he batted 2nd and played Left Field much of the season.
The Reds pulled off two big trades near the trade deadline. The club, frustrated with production of a couple of players and wanting to get rid of some payroll, shipped P Johnny Cueto to KC in exchange for 3B Brett Lawrie and a hot young prospect P Jeremy Jeffries. Jeffries went 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA with the Reds. Brandon Phillips and struggling young P Travis Wood were sent to the Dodgers for young SS phenom prospect, Manny Machado and SP prospect Stetson Allie.
FA pickup Dallas Braden led the pitching staff going 15-8 and Philipe Valiquette went 14-8.
2015 should be an exciting season for the Cincinnati Reds!
