Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners use long ball to rally for win

Seattle - The Mariners only mustered four hits, but three of them went over the fence, and Yovani Gallardo shook off a shaky start to hold the game close for the Mariners to take over late for a 4-3 win. Steve Cishek got the win after coming in and holding it down in the seventh and eighth innings. Seattle trailed 3-1 going into the seventh, but Kyle Seager hit a solo shot to make it 3-2. Then Mike Zunino smacked a double to chase A's starter Raul Alcantara, who had been masterful until that point. Two pitches later Leonys Martin smacked what would be the game winning home run over the fence. Seattle will now look to create more distance in the AL West by picking up a series win tomorrow. They will send Felix Hernandez (3-4, 4.78 ERA) into the king's court where he can hopefully get back on track, while the A's will counter with thier ace Sonny Gray (0-1, 9.00 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm tomorrow.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Felix struggles again with long ball, as A's take series over Mariners

Seattle - Felix Hernandez's struggles keeping the ball in the park continued again Wednesday night as the A's left the yard three times against the M's workhorse, as they cruised to a 4-2 victory. Felix was able to gut it out through seven innings as he at least kept the home runs to solo shots. Sonny Gray locked the Mariners down on the other side giving up just one run through 8 innings in picking up his first win of the year. The Mariners will look to get back on track tomorrow against the Chicago White Sox when they send Hisashi Iwakuma (5-3, 3.72 ERA) to the mound to face Kevin Gausman (2-5, 6.27 ERA). First Pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Kyle Seager walk off home run gives Mariners victory

Seattle - Kyle Seager hit two home runs, the later one to walk it off, as the Mariners bats were quiet again, but were able to get by 4-3 in this one. Jarrod Dyson, and Dan Vogelbach had the other RBI's for the Mariners, who got a good start from Hisashi Iwakuma to keep it close, and another great bullpen outing with closer Edwin Diaz getting the save. The Mariners will look to keep their winning ways going tomorrow night when they send James Paxton (5-0, 2.24 ERA) to the mound to face Miguel Gonzalez (1-5, 5.24 ERA). First Pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners bats silenced again in shut out

Seattle - The Mariners offensive struggles this week continued on Friday night, as they were shut out by the struggling Miguel Gonzalez 3-0. Seattle managed six hits on the night. Manager Scott Servais isn't pulling the panic lever yet, pointing out that the M's had many hard hit balls that just didn't fall. Seattle had a chance to plate a run in the eighth as Robinson Cano surely would've scored on a double by Jean Segura, but even that wouldn't go the M's way as the ball bounced over for a ground rule, and Cano had to hold at 3rd. James Paxton ended up being the hard luck loser despite a career high twelve strikeout performance. The Mariners will look to bounce back tomorrow night when they send Ariel Miranda (2-3, 3.21 ERA) to the mound to face Derek Holland (3-2, 3.22 ERA). The first pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners get back on track with 5-2 win

Seattle - Mitch Haniger provided the spark with a three run homer, and Ariel Miranda was sharp through six before he unfortunately had to leave the game with shoulder tightness, but the Mariners held on for a victory Saturday night. Kyle Seager also continued his impressive week with another home run giving him five so far on the home stand. Seattle will look to finish off the stand with a series win before they hit the road for an east coast trip. Seattle will send Yovani Gallardo (3-3, 4.50 ERA) to the mound to face James Shields (2-2, 3.40 ERA). First pitch will be at 1:10 pm tomorrow afternoon.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Nelson Cruz's walkoff, big day helps Mariners to series win

Seattle - Nelson Cruz had four RBI, including a walk off sac fly, as the Mariners beat the White Sox 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. Seattle lost the lead twice late in the game but were able to come back each time. After falling down 3-2 in the seventh, Nelson Cruz hit a two run homer to put the M's back up 4-3, and then after Edwin Diaz couldn't lock down the four out save, Cruz came to the rescue again after Segura, and Dyson kicked off the inning with singles. Seattle now gets a day off before they fly to the east coast for a three game series starting in the Nation's capital on Tuesday night. Seattle will start that series by sending Felix Hernandez (3-5, 4.82 ERA) to the mound to face Enny Romero (3-1, 4.18 ERA). First pitch will be at 4:05 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Haniger, Cruz lead Mariners to win in DC

Washington - Mitch Haniger had four RBI including a three run homer, and Nelson Cruz added a two run shot of his own as the Mariners got a 6-3 win over the Nationals. Felix Hernandez had long ball problems again, but limited them to solo shots, keeping him in the lead as he worked 5.2 innings. It was enough for the win as Steve Cishek, and Edwin Diaz shut down the Nats late in the game to preserve the victory the King desperately needed. The Mariners will look to continue this winning streak tomorrow when they send Hisashi Iwakuma (5-3, 3.74 ERA) to the mound to face Washington ace Max Scherzer (6-0, 2.22 ERA). First pitch will be at 4:05 pm.
