Welcome to A's Ascending-A MLB The Show Franchise

It is the start of a new era of baseball in Oakland. Longtime general manger and minority owner of the Oakland Athletics, Billy Beane, has just managed to gain sole and complete ownership of the team. Longtime assistant general manger under Beane and current general manager, David Forst, has just be promoted to President of Baseball Operations. I have been brought in to work under Beane and Forst as the new general manager of the Oakland A's.

General Information

My strategy in all this will be based on making solid drafting, smart trades, and smart free agency signings. I will try my best to keep trades and free agent signings as realistic as possible. I will play every game starting at the start of the 2017 Regular Season and am planning on carrying this franchise from MLB The Show 17 over into future MLB The Show video games. I have left on the ability to be fired and/or change teams during the course of your career so that it adds to the realism but don't foresee that happening. The only way I change teams is should I get fired and again I don't foresee that happening. Should I got fired I would likely just end this dynasty and create a new one when that might occur but hopefully it won't.

How Often Will I Provide Updates:

I will start off by listing the team's history in a post below. Next I will do coaching staff and free agency recap posts. Then I will do a Spring Training preview/post which will consist of my team's Spring Training schedule and roster. I will be playing every Spring Training game in order to get a feel for the team and play out position battles. I will then post a mid-way and end of Spring Training recap posts. Then I will do a start of 2017 Regular season update/post which will consist of things such as start of Regular Season Power Rankings and my MLB, Triple-A, and Double-A rosters plus the team's 2017 Regular Season schedule. Will also post updates relating to any potential trades I make and any major computer controlled team trades made throughout the season. Once I start playing regular season games, and I will play every regular season game, I will post updates every week of the season which will consists of things such as updated standings (both divisional and wildcard) and stats (league leaders, award frontrunners, All-Star game voting, etc.). Again I will have separate/individual posts for all major trades, and, I will also have a separate/individual post for the draft which will focusing solely on my team's draft. Finally, there will be a season recap post, playoff series recaps (should we make the playoffs), and lastly posts relating to key offseason signings. Finally, I would like it noted that I will focus mainly/mostly on the Oakland A's seeing as this is a dynasty about them.

Potential Plan and Team Outlook Going Forward Into 2017 Spring Training and Beyond

First off sorry about not having posted in some time. Back now and hoping to finally settle into this franchise. Am planning on building the starting rotation around Sean Manaea (Age 25, 79OVR, B Potential) and Jharel Cotton (Age 25, 80OVR, B Potential). Might consider moving Sonny Gray if the right offer comes through. Will likely keep 1B Yonder Alonso (Age 29, 81OVR, B Potential) as I really find myself liking him as a player in the game this year, 3B Trevor Plouffe (Age 30, 76OVR, C Potential) will eventually be trade bait, Ryon Healy (Age 25, 77OVR, B Potential) will likely be the team's everyday DH with Matt Chapman (Age 23, 74OVR, B Potential) ending up the team's everyday 3B after I finally trade away Trevor Plouffe. Marcus Semien (Age 26, 73OVR, C Potential) and Franklin Barreto (Age 21, 72OVR, B Potential) will battle it out in Spring Training for the everyday starting SS job. Once Barreto finally ends up winning the job at whoever point in time that might be Semien will likely be traded. Definitely want to keep LF Khris Davis (Age 29, 80OVR, B Potential) as his power ratings for against both lefties and righties sits at 88 to start the franchise. Got this year's first round pick in CF Austin Beck (Age 18, 60OVR, B Potential) who will likely end up at some point in time the team's everyday CF. And finally Matt Joyce (Age 32, 66OVR, C Potential) and Matt Olson (Age 23, 65OVR, B Potential) will battle it out this Spring for the everyday starting RF job.
