David Porter's wild week
By Michael McDermott | Jun 16, 2021, 2:52pm

PORTER LAUNCHES A HOMER IN THE DOUBLE A CENTRAL ALL STAR GAME

David Porter has had a week (technically five days) to remember.

On Sunday he recorded his first career triple in a 9-3 win against San Antonio. He went 2-4 with and RBI in that game. Immediately after that he boarded a plane to Colorado to play in the MLB futures game. Porter struggled at the plate in that one, going hitless. He did play well in the field however.

After that it was on to Arizona to play with several Sod Poodles teammates in the Double A Central All-Star game. Porter went 2 for 3 with a home run in that contest, however his South squad lost 5-3.

On Tuesday the Sod Poodles were back in action, taking on Midland to start a three game road set. Porter went 0-4 in that game and the Sod Poodles lost 7-0. Porter was visibly frustrated after the game.

It didn't take Porter very long to bounce back, going 6-6 with a pair of home runs in a 16-1 win in the second game of the series. Yesterday afternoon Amarillo finished up the series with an 11-4 win, taking the road series 2-1. Porter went 2-5 in the series clinching and launched a 415 foot home run.

The celebration was short lived for Porter as he was pulled aside and told he was moving up to AAA, effective immediately. He'll meet the AAA Reno Aces in Oklahoma City this morning as they prepare for the second game of a three game series there. He could potentially play as early as tonight.

As for the Sod Poodles, they won the first half in their division, meaning they'll play in a post season series.

Reno is currently 47-36, second in the AAA West West.

Davis' final AA stats are as follows:

Porter's primary focus at the AAA level will be patience at the plate, though he only struck out nine times in his 48 games in Amarillo he was not walked once.

David Porter showing no signs of slowing down in AAA
By Michael McDermott | Aug 1, 2021, 10:22am

PORTER BEATS A THROW HOME

David Porter made his AAA debut with the Reno Aces on July 16th. He hit his first AAA home run three days later. Since then he has played in 11 of the Aces 14 games. Two nights ago he went 0-4 and ended a nine game hit streak. Last night he bounced back nicely, going 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

Porter has been on a tear at the plate, batting .511 with two home runs and eight doubles in 47 at bats.

He has been solid in the field, with just two errors against nine assists and three put outs and an .857 fielding percentage. His bat more than makes up for any shortcomings in the field, though so far he has been fine defensively.

If Porter was a bit older and had a little more experience he'd likely be pushing for promotion to Arizona. For now we'll have to settle for watching him tear it up in Reno.

Super excited to have "The Show" on Xbox. My last Baseball Franchise was in 2013, when I still had a PS3.

Looks like Porter might be a little bit of a Daniel Volenbach clone
