NBA Live 10 Dynamic Season (CLE, WAS, OKC, LAL)

NBA Live 10 Dynamic Season

For those of you who don't know what NBA Live 2010's Dynamic Season is, it is a game mode where you take over a team and play them in the real season going on. Every game around you is simulated with the exact results it had in real life, the only changes made in the seasons are the ones you make in your game. Dwayne Wade puts up a 50 point game in real life, his stats for the night reflect it. But in user controlled games your stats compile through the season as you play them, look of it as a way of changing history for a team. Injuries, trades and hot/cold streaks are even taken from real life into the Dynamic Season.

For this year I will be taking over four teams for a look into their run to the NBA Championship. Two will be from the Eastern Conference, two from the West.

First, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Of course the Cavs are headlined by the top player in the league, LeBron James. They have also added Shaquille O'Neal and Anthony Parker in the off season. Will the Shaq and LeBron duo be able to take the Cavaliers to a championship. Will LeBron be able to put up a season even better than last years MVP campaign with a better supporting cast?

The second team will be the Washington Wizards. This is more of a personal choice as they are my favorite team and Gilbert Arenas is my favorite player. The Wizards are coming off a terrible season due to the injuries of their three stars, Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler and Antwan Jamison. The Wizards have added Randy Foye and Mike Miller to try to turn this ship around. Will they be able to stave off injury this season and fulfill their potential under new head coach Flip Saunders?

The third team being covered will be the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder go into their second season in Oklahoma City since moving from Seattle. The Thunder is one of the youngest teams in the league, and they are led by rising star Kevin Durant. Durant is joined by fellow youngsters Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook. Can Durant put this team on his shoulders and carry them to the postseason, or will the team need more time to develop into a contender?

The final team being covered is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are the defending NBA Champions, and they have one of the most recognized athletes in the world at the helm, Kobe Bryant. The Lakers aren't a one man show anymore though. Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, and the new addition of previously hated rival Ron Artest will make the Lakers the favorite to repeat as champions. The story here will be if Artest can fit in, and to see if Kobe still performs to his dominate levels. If the Lakers stay healthy look for them to win another championship.

Boston Celtics (0-0) @ Cleveland Cavaliers (0-0)

These two Eastern Conference powers came into opening night full strength. Cleveland was out to prove they are improved and ready for a serious run at the title. Boston has it's big three intact for the first time in a long time, and if all three can stay healthy they are nearly unbeatable. This game marks the debut of Shaquille O'Neal for the Cavaliers and Rasheed Wallace for the Celtics as well as a potential shootout between LeBron James and Paul Pierce.

This game started very even, the teams traded runs for almost the entire first half until the Cavaliers stepped ahead at the end of the second quarter on three quick three pointers from point guard Mo Williams and very strong play on both ends from reigning MVP LeBron James. The Cavaliers just stretched their lead out in the second half and coasted to an impressive victory on opening night.

Washington Wizards (0-0) @ Dallas Mavericks (0-0)

A lot of experts have been talking about the Dallas Mavericks in the preseason. Many like them to make a deep playoff run under Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd. Coming into this game though one of their key scorers Josh Howard is injured. The Washington Wizards come in off a very disappointing season where their key three men were injured for much of the season. And coming into the opener their key big man Antwan Jamison is inactive due to injury.

The Wizards came out firing in this game, with Caron Butler putting up eight quick points in the first quarter. Gilbert Arenas looked in old form as he drove the lane, finding open men along the perimeter. The story of this game quickly became Dirk Nowitzki dominating the Wizards, as he scored at will all game and led the Mavs back to a two point lead at the half. They opened up almost a 30 point lead in the third, and the Wizards chipped away slightly before the final buzzer and a 104-89 loss.

Los Angeles Clippers (0-0) @ Los Angeles Lakers (0-0)

Tonight is a big night for the Los Angeles Lakers. Tonight the defending world champions will be receiving their championship rings and the banner will be unveiled. After the ceremonies the Lakers will start the defense of their championship, and will look to begin the road to repeat. All of this will take place at Staples Center, which the Lakers share with the Clippers, their opponent tonight. Tonight will be a showcase of the Lakers, and in contrast it could be a showcase of how little the Clippers have. One hope the Clippers have is that Pau Gasol will be sitting this game out, but the Clippers first overall pick Blake Griffin will also be out with a broken kneecap.

The Lakers started the game off with some smothering defense. They never really took off on offense, but their strong defense kept about a ten point lead. Kobe Bryant came out ice cold, but Ron Artest kept the team up with some sharpshooting from behind the arc. The Clippers began a run late in the third and got within three, and that's when Kobe Bryant took over. Kobe started getting to the line and getting to the rim on his way to a thirty six point night and a nine point win for the Lakers.

Sacramento Kings (0-0) @ Oklahoma City Thunder (0-0)

Tonight is opening night for the Oklahoma City Thunder, an exciting young team that is in their second season in their new hometown. They face off against what is widely considered the worst team in the NBA today, the Sacramento Kings. The only real threat the Kings have is shooting guard Kevin Martin, and if the Thunder can shut him down the Kings have zero chance.

The fact of how bad the Kings really are shined in this game. They were able to stay with the Thunder for about five minutes, then Jeff Green and Kevin Durant started tearing apart the weak interior of the Kings. They opened up a huge lead, and almost shut out the Kings in the third quarter as Andres Nocioni decided to try and play hero and threw up brick after brick. Thabo Sefalosha did a great job of shutting down Martin as well. In the end the Thunder almost pulled out a fifty point win, and the Kings first game of the year was an utter embarrassment, look for big changes there.

Cleveland Cavaliers (1-0) @ Toronto Raptors (0-0)

The Cavaliers are coming off of a huge opening night victory over who many are calling the best team in the East, the Boston Celtics. LeBron James had a very impressive first night as well almost putting up a double-double, showing that he's ready to back up his MVP performance of a year ago. The Raptors added Hedo Turkoglu in the offseason, and expect to make a run to the playoffs under the leadership of big man Chris Bosh.

This game was a great back and forth battle, the teams trading the lead over and over again. The Raptors spread the ball around well as they were knocking down outside shots, and LeBron James dominated the first half scoring for his team with 22 points. LeBron cooled in the second half, but unlike last night his teammates weren't shooting the lights out. Mo Williams put up 14, but he was ineffective from outside, which is the main reason the Cavs won by so much last night. The Raptors turned to Chris Bosh, who lead a late run for the Raptors, and gave them a big four point victory over the favored Cavaliers in front of the Toronto crowd.

Washington Wizards (0-1) @ Atlanta Hawks (1-0)

The Washington Wizards travel to Atlanta to take on the always tough Hawks tonight. The Hawks feature great speed and a handful of playmakers, and their offense is ran by experienced veteran Mike Bibby. The Hawks come into the game with a win in their opener, while the Wizards took a tough loss at Dallas. Gilbert Arenas and company will be without Antwan Jamision once again in this game, and it is learned he is expected to be out until around late November.

This was a thrilling game all around. The Wizards held the edge for most of it, mostly thanks to great production from the bench, especially Andray Blatche and Randy Foye, who score 17 and 12 respectively. While the Wizards held about a five point lead through most of the fourth, the Hawks started coming back very quickly as Make Bibby slashed and dished, scoring and assisting at will over the last few minutes. Down by five with 10 seconds left Gilbert Arenas nailed a three to cut the lead to two, then got a steal shortly after the inbounds pass. He then set up his man, drove, got contact, but no call was made and the shot rimmed out, giving the Hawks the thrilling two point comeback victory.
