The Story of Coach Young

For over a year I have been playing a closed legacy with Coach Young. I am 24 years in and have 10 National Championships to my name. I have over 174 pages posted at 2k Forums but the boards have really died down over there so I started my open legacy with Coach Dezaron however I plan on continuing this legacy as well. So with that said I am going to move my thread over here. I am going to start with my current year. For anyone who wants to read the entire thread from the beginning I put a link on my signature for those who want to follow from the beginning. Again this will be in addition to continuing my open legacy with Coach Dezaron and WSU.

Breaking News

Welcome to SportsCenter. Tonight we have breaking news in College Basketball. Coach Bryan Young of the National Champions Loyola Marymount Lions is stepping down after just 3 seasons. We now go live to Los Angeles @ Gersten Pavillion.

Coach Young "Thank you all for coming today. This is a very emotional and sad day for me. After 23 years of Coaching at the Division I level my body is telling me it needs a rest and my family is telling me I need a rest. Its been a amazing ride. Never in my dreams would I have thought that I would be standing before you all with 664 Career wins and 10 National Titles to my name. I know some of you have alot of questions but for now all I can tell you is that I feel its in my best interest to step down. I will miss you the fans and all my amazing players. This has been a great 3 years and I believe that with the right guidence this team will continue to play at a high level and has the potential to repeat next year as National Champs again. I have asked the University to hire Patrick Ewing as my replacement and they have agreed. So I hope you would all give him the love and support that you have given me."

Re: The Story of Coach Young

The 2030-2031, proved to be another exciting year of college basketball. The Defending Champs LMU Lions would make their 3rd straight appearence in the National Title Game without Coach Young at the helm. Starting #7 PreSeason in the Top-25 Media Poll. The Lions climbed as high as #1 throughout the season winning the WCC Regular Season Title for the 4th straight year.. A early loss in the WCC Conference Tournament would drop the Lions to #3 in the Final Poll of the year but they would still claim a #1 Seed in the NCAA Tournament.

After a blowout win over #16 Grambling in the opening Round, the Lions went on to beat #8 Arizona State before matching up with WCC Rival San Francisco in the Sweet Sixteen. The Lions would escape with a 94-85 win to earn a spot in the Elite 8 vs #2 Richmond. After defeating the Spiders, LMU then went on to beat #3 Seton Hall on a buzzer beat by A. Reyes 96-93 to set up a championship matchup against #3 Duke.

In the Championship Game the Lions would take a 49-45 lead into the half and behind a double double performance for C. Rowe and another huge 3pt by A. Reyes the Lions would pull off the 87-84 victory claiming their 2nd National Title.

After the game A. Reyes. "It was amazing to be be able to repeat as National Champs. Coach Young was right there in the locker room, giving us his ususal pep speech about how do we all want to go out being remembered. I will remember my 4 years here at LMU as the most amazing time of my life"

Reyes finished his career with a 11.7 ppg 2.6 rpg 1.6 apg 1.3 spg and hit 267/678 3pt (39%). He was named WCC FOY and WCC All-Freshman his 1st season with the Lions. 2nd Team All-WCC as a Soph and JR and 1st Team All-WCC as a Senior.

After the game we got up with Coach Young to ask him how his year away from basetkball went.

Coach Young " I was one of the hardest year's of my life. Yes my health improved and I got to spend some quality time with my family, but I missed the game of basketball. Being here tonight and having Coach Ewing allow me to sit on the sidelines and watch as this group of guys won the title without me made me think about how much I loved being on this court."

Re: The Story of Coach Young

Hello and welcome back to Sportscenter. Last Night Dana O'Neill broke the story that Coach Young is returning the hardcourt and has signed a 4-yr contract to be the Head Coach and AD at Cal-State Northridge. The Matadors are coming off a 21-8 season in which they finished 2nd in the Big West and lost to UC Riverside in the Big West Conference Championship.

Coach Young "I am very excited to start this next chapter in my life. Yes I had the opportunity to take several higher profile jobs and even though the Big West is considered a step down from the WCC I love the fact that we will be able to stay right here in California where we have been for the past 11 years."

O'Neill is also reporting that joining Coach Young at CSUN will be his nephew Justin Young (Former BSU player) and Assistant Coach for the past 2 seasons at LMU. However the family ties don't stop there. Before Coach L. Hunter left for Providence the Matadors had already signed 4 players in the early season recruiting period but they still had 1 scholarship left. With that last scholarship Coach Young landed the best prospect in CSUN History. His very own son, Alec Young. A 5* AA Rated #6 Overall and #3 by Scouts.Inc. Many assumed that Alec would sign with either UCLA or LMU. However after scholarship offers from both schools failed to materialize (UCLA signed the #1 Overall/#1 PG AA Mr BB CA Bill Henderson) and (LMU signed 5* AA #20/6 SG Q. Grady) Young instead choose to stay home and play for his dad. (I will have more recruiting info on the roster section.)

Alec Young "Yeah I am disappointed to not be going to UCLA. Ever since Dad coached there, its been my dream to be a Bruin. Going to LMU was always a backup plan that I didn't think I would need. With both Dad and Justin leaving, I felt like CSUN would be a great fit. With the roster we have returning I have a great chance to start all 4 years and I wouldn't have had that opportunity at UCLA or LMU."
