BFSL Sports Presents: Coach Josh Allen/Choops 2k8

FIRED!!!!
Zags Fire Men's Basketball Coach Allen
April 12, 2033

Monday, Gonzaga fired legendary but controversial Head Coach, Josh Allen citing a pattern of abusive, defiant behavior by the Zags Head Coach of 21 seasons. The firing was largely in part to an altercation that Allen had with a Lubbock reporter following Gonzaga's 2nd round loss in the NCAA Tournament to Texas Tech in which the volatile coach had to be restrained following questions from the reporter about decisions made by Allen in the 2nd half of the loss.

Allen, who is 23 wins away from 600 for his career won 491 games at Gonzaga, including 2 Final Four appearances and the schools only National Championship in 2024. Gonzaga reached the NCAA tournament in all but 2 of Allen's 21 season at Gonzaga. Allen spent 5 seasons at VMI, with 3 NCAA tournament appearances while there.

Allen is widely loved in the Spokane community and has been a favorite since his arrival in 2012 when he was hired to turn around the program that fell apart after the departure of Mark Few as coach. Allen was able to match and surpass Few's success, even having the court named after him.

Controversial Moments in Coach Allen's Career

2013- Made controversial remarks prior to a game telling Gonzaga fans prior to a game at Notre Dame to keep a close eye on their small sons calling the Catholic Church a safe haven for pedophiles. Despite pressure from school officials, Allen refused to apologize and offered to resign if Gonzaga wanted him to.

2017-Following Gonzaga's 3rd straight NCAA tournament 1st round loss, Allen commented that his teams would make it further in the tournament if he paid his players like his opponent, Kentucky coach Jim Calipari.

2018-Was suspended 1 game for an altercation with an official during a game vs. St. Mary's. Allen had to be restrained and the official was escorted off the court when Gonzaga fans began throwing objects at the referee. Allen admonished the crowd for their actions and ordered them not to throw things.

2023-Allen was suspended for 3 games for grabbing opposing player Marco Walker by the jersey for a flagrant elbow Walker threw at a Gonzaga player.

2026-Former AD confirmed a previously released story that Coach Allen had assaulted him weeks before winning the 2024 National Championship for suggesting that Coach Allen should take it easier on his players in practice following a complaint from a player that Allen was pushing the team too hard. Allen allegedly punched the AD, which the AD covered up until his departure in 2026. Allen has never commented on the incident.

2030-Was detained briefly by local police after Allen injured a Spokane man who Allen witnessed assault and injure a homeless man. The assailant suffered several facial fractures as a result of Allen. Allen was not arrested and also paid for the medical bills of the homeless man that the assailant injured.

2031-Fined on 3 separate occasions for refusing to attend post game news conferences instead sending the teams equipment manager to sit in for him on 1 occasion.

Former Gonzaga Men's basketball coach, Josh Allen, is in the news once again. The controversial coach stormed off the set of a long awaited interview with our own Andy Katz.

Katz questioned Allen about the incident in which he allegedly struck a former Atheletic Director while both were still at Gonzaga. Allen has never commented on the incident and refuses to discuss the matter, even to deny it.

Allen, fired in April for multiple incidents that Gonzaga officials deemed embarrassing to the school, is being mentioned by many as a strong candidate at Duke, Texas, Indiana, and North Carolina, all once storied programs that have struggled in recent years after the loss of their respective, iconic coaches.

Allen has said he is not sure on what his timetable may be on any decision to accept any position.

Basically, as stated in first post, Coach Allen was fired from Gonzaga. Actually, I was interested in coaching Indiana, as they are my team and when the job came open, I came up with a storyline tracking Coach Allen's career at IU.

Now that he is officially at Indiana, I will post game results as well any other things of interest.
