Good luck in the conference tournament. Predication is a South Dakota State-Western Illinois matchup in the conference finals.

Here we go man! The regular season is behind you. Whether your under .500 or not, win this tourney and thats all out the window! Also, you probably should try and tweak those sliders or go from 20 min games to 15. That is a high scoring mark for such a small school.

Following! GL in conference tourney!

Thanks for checking in guys, I have already played the conference tournament, just need to find the time to input the box scores and then post all the brackets for the tournaments and such. Look for them later today.

Ya, those high scores may be a little too high, no matter what I do I struggle with playing a slow paced game because I take the open shot as soon as I get it .
Thanks for following!

Re: CH2k8-- The coaching Legacy of Dan Baker

3rd Time is the Charm!

(AP) – In a game that featured two teams that were sitting at the .500 mark Jacks shooting guard Vandrell Smith came out with something to prove early and scored a game high 34 points. The Jacks beat the Oakland Grizzlies for the first time this season and have moved on to the second round of the Summit Conference Tournament where they will face UMKC who upset the #2 seeded IPFW.

Coaches Corner: What a great game we played, Vandrell was on fire and hit all 5 of our shots from behind the arc, not to mention 6 other shots along with his 7 free throws. Really a career night for the kid who didn’t even play all that long. We took advantage of their injuries inside until Porter Alford came up lame after getting fouled hard. After talking with the training staff I am confident that he will be ok to play the next game having just re-aggravated his sore knee.

Round 2 of the Summit Conference Preview
After some interesting games here is the Results and the preview for round 2.
#1 IUPUI 74
#8 Oral Roberts 59
IUPUI MVP: Taliek Werner, 6/10 FG, 1/1 3pt FG, ¾ FT, 3 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 2 TO, 16 PTS
Oral Roberts MVP:Wilbur Bowdan, 9/16 FG, ½ 3pt FG, 7/8 FT, 9 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 2 TO, 26 PTS

#4 North Dakota State 63
#5 Western Illinois 57

#6 South Dakota State 93
#3 Oakland 84
SDST MVP: Vandrell Smith, 11/18 FG, 5/8 3Pt FG, 7/7 FT, 3 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 34 PTS
Oakland MVP: Shawan Akins, 9/15 FG, 7-8 FT, 6 REB, 2 STL, 3 TO, 25 PTS
#2 IPFW 60
#7 UMKC 67
IPFW MVP: Jorge Zwikker, 5/12 FG, 0/1 3Pt FG, ½ FT, 10 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 2 BLK, 11 PTS
UMKC MVP: Dayshawn Woodard, 9/14 FG, 3/5 3PT FG, 0/1 FT, 6 REB, 1 STL, 5 TO, 21 PTS
Note: I correctly picked 3 of the first four games, not bad if I do say so myself. Maybe I’m getting cocky but for some reason I legitimately think we have a shot at the NCAA Tourney the way we played that last game.

Round 2 Preview
#1 IUPUI 17-11 (13-6)
66.8 PPG
Biggest Threat: Taliek Werner, Junior, Shooting Guard, 16.4 PPG (Last Game, 16 PTS)
Big Man On Campus: Ousmane Vaughn, Freshman, Center, 2.5 RPG (Last Game, 6 REB)
Injuries:
Philip Sylla, Junior, Power Forward, Out, Broken Toe, 36 Days
VS.
#4 North Dakota State 12-15 (11-8)
67.3 PPG
Biggest Threat: Rand Stefanov, Junior, Point Guard, 14.6 PPG (Last Game, 15 PTS)
Big Man On Campus: Judson Parada, Junior, Center, 7.4 RPG (Last Game, 7 Rebounds)
Injuries:
Jerret Toppert, Sophomore, Power Forward, Day to Day, Pulled Hamstring, 24 Days

This Season: Split the season series 1-1, both games decided by 5 points or less. Both Teams won at home.
Writer’s Prediction: I initially thought this may be closer than many thought, but with Toppert out I think IUPUI dominates them inside with their big men but I think Stefanov scored over 20.

#6 South Dakota State 15-14 (10-9)
88.6 PPG
Biggest Threat: Vandrell Smith, Freshman, Shooting Guard, 17.6 PPG (Last Game, 34 PTS)
Big Man On Campus: Martin Diarra, Senior, Power Forward, 7.9 RPG (Last Game, 4 REB)
Injuries:
Porter Alford, Senior, Power Forward, Day to Day, Sore Knee, 8 Days
Odie Winans, Freshman, Power Forward, Out, Broken Ankle, 38 Days
VS
#7 UMKC 15-15 (10-9)
67.0 PPG
Biggest Threat: Dayshawn Woodard, Junior, Shooting Guard, 13.2 PPG (Last Game, 21 PTS)
Big Man On Campus: Sead Boyce, Junior, Center, 8.7 RPG (Last Game, 9 REB)
Injuries:
Lester Ariza, Junior, Center, Medical Redshirt, Ruptured Achilles, Season

This Season: The Jacks swept the series though they went into overtime at home, both games were decided by single digits.
Writer’s Pick: This is a tough one, a lot tougher than I thought it would be when I saw the matchup. UMKC has played some tough basketball, I think the Jacks win this one because they force early foul trouble on Boyce inside.
