mind if i make a suggestion? Try trading Francisco Garcia, Jason Thompson and a 1st round pick for Kevin Love and Wesley Matthews

The Young Monarchs // Team Development Update

SACRAMENTO -- (AP) – New Sacramento Kings GM Jason Carter has stepped up to the plate of trying to bring the franchise formally called the queens back to power as The Kings. It is apparent that he will be making some big adjustments. Before the season could even get under way he has already traded, signed, and traded some more to build a young core that will push for contendership. The new look Kings are looking good but a few players feel like GM Carter is a double-edged sword. Tyreke Evans stated, “While its very apparent that he knows what it takes to win and that he wants to win, its only October and he’s made more moves then most teams have in a few seasons. Only time will tell how this will work out but I’m ready and willing to fight it out right alongside him.”

We were able to get a word with the new GM about his teams player movement and to our surprise not only was he well spoken but he also gave us very elaborate details as to what moves were made and why. He started by saying….

Marcus Thornton for Xavier Henry and Grizzlies 2011 Second Round Pick

“First things first, we needed to move Marcus Thornton. He's a great young player but he will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and he’ll most likely want a lot of money. He's only "Somewhat Loyal" also, meaning he WILL test free agency in the off-season. I decided to trade him for Xavier Henry of the Grizzlies who we can get at least 4 years out of. I make sure to also get a 2011 second rounder, since the trade is not that even.”

Beno Udrih, Fransico Garcia, and Kings 2012 First Round Pick for Timberwolves 2011 First Round Pick

“Second, was the "problem" contracts of Beno Udrih (2 yrs, $13.89M total with a player option he WILL take for a third year) and Francisco Garcia (3 yrs, $17.40M total). They are both 28, rated 69, and about to go downhill fast. I trade both of them and a first rounder 2012 for a first rounder 2011 from the Timberwolves. Who wouldn’t want their 1st round pick? Not to mention we got rid of those problem contracts we were holding onto.”

Signing and trading Larry Hughes and Kelenna Azubuike
Larry Hughes and Kings 2012 Second Round Pick for Trevor Booker
Kelenna Azubuike and Jermaine Taylor for Dorell Wright

“Now at that point we had a ton of cap space and three spots. I signed Larry Hughes and Kelenna Azubuike with the intention of giving them some playng time Kelenna more so then Larry. However we were immediately intrigued to trade Hughes and a second rounder from 2012 for Trevor Booker of the Wizards. Azubuike which was a hard choice but we needed a SF. So we chose to trade him. The deal came out to be him and Jermaine Taylor for Dorell Wright of the Warriors. We’d have 3 years with Wright. He's a pretty good overall player, but only has mediocre potential, so we don't expect him to jump up in rating but he will be very critical to our team.”

Samuel Dalembert, Grizzlies 2011 2nd Round Pick, Kings 2011 2nd round pick for Anderson Varejao and Cavaliers 2011 1st and 2nd Round pick
Varejao, Hassan Whiteside, and Marquis Daniels for Eric Maynor, Nick Collison, the Thunder's 2011 first rounder, and Royal Ivey

“After that, we traded Dalembert (expiring contract, whose getting old), the 2011 second rounder we acquired from the Grizzlies, and the Kings 2011 second rounder, all for Anderson Varejao and the Cav's 2011 1st and 2nd round picks. Basically, we traded Dalembert for Varejao and two second rounders for a probably lottery 1st rounder. This was a good deal for the organization. However since Varejoa was the least of our key additions he was immediately shipped out. Varejao, Hassan Whiteside, and Marquis Daniels for Eric Maynor, Nick Collison, the Thunder's 2011 first rounder, and Royal Ivey.”

Signing Rafer Alston

“Finally, we were left with a big problem at Point Guard with Jeter starting so I sign veteran PG Rafer Alston from the free agent list. With all ofthese moves I was able to not only make the team younger and better right away, but we have an extree amount of flexibility for this coming off-season."

2010 – 2011 Sacramento Kings // October and November Team Update

SACRAMENTO -- (AP) -- To the suprise of the fans and even the organization, the Kings have started the season looking like a contender for the number one overall draft pick. They finished October with a record of 1-2, with losses to the Nets and Cavaliers but managed to sneak one in over the Timberwolves. November was only a continuation of lackluster play despite amazing effort from rookie C DeMarcus Cousins and combo guard Tyreke Evans. At the end of November the Sacramento Kings are the worst team in the Western Conference with a record of 5-11.

SG Tyreke Evans
PPG: 21.3
APG: 4.3
RPG: 3.6

C DeMarcus Cousins
PPG: 13.8
RPG: 9.3
BPG: 1.9

Kings Dethroned? // December Team Update

SACRAMENTO -- (AP) – Safe to say that December was not just a continuation of the Kings’ already bad start. Going 7-6 in the month the Kings stay around the same area of the stadings. The Kings managed to pull off big victories against the Mavericks, Lakers, Hornets and even beat the Rockets twice (one decided by a Tyreke Evans buzzer beater) but came up short to the Clippers, Bucks, and Grizzlies to name a few. Tyreke Evans has continued to carry the team offensively with the help of DeMarcus Cousins. Over the last month there has been one stand out player and that was Dorell Wright who is now second in scoring for the team. He has been flying under the radar but has managed to put up solid numbers. The Kings finished December in 13th place in the Western Conference with a record of 12-17. Evans, Cousins, and Wright are starting to come together as the big three here in Sacramento. But is this big three capable of doing great things together or will they even be together long enough to find out? I guess we will find out as the season progresses.

SG Tyreke Evans
PPG: 21.1
APG: 4.1
RPG: 3.3

C DeMarcus Cousins
PPG: 13.3
RPG: 9.7
BPG: 1.7

SF Dorell Wright
PPG: 14.0
RPG: 6.1
SPG: 1.4
