76ers Send Nocioni, Battie. and a pick to Phoenix; Welcome Gortat to Philly



The Sixers have completed their first transaction of the 2011 season. The team completed a deal with Phoenix today, sending SF Andres Nocioni, and C Tony Battie to Phoenix in exchange for Marcin Gortat.

Gortat will play backup to Spencer Hawes at the center position for Philadelphia, and will make his Sixers debut next week.

Sweet Lou Out 1-2 Weeks

Philadelphia 76ers backup point guard, and sixth man, Lou Williams was injured in last night's game, suffering a lower back strain early in the 4th quarter.

Williams left for the remainder of the night and is expected to be out 1-2 weeks.

Due to the lack of depth at the point guard position, Head Coach Doug Collins announced that Andre Iguodala, and Jodie Meeks will both see some time away from their usual spots to fill the void.
