Re: Redemption: NBA 2k12 Los Angeles Lakers Association

Oakland -- Big man Andrew Bynum man handled the Warriors front line on his way to a career night as the Lakers defeated the Warriors 128-85 on Wednesday night. Bynum finished with a career high of 51 points to go along with 12 rebounds a 3 blocked shots.

Just 24 hours earlier his teammate Kobe Bryant dropped 54 on the OKC Thunder.

"I had a good feeling going into this game," Bynum said. I kept getting good position down low and my teammates kept feeding me the ball.

Kobe Bryant finished with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assist. Pau Gasol went 6-6 from the field and finished with 15 points.

The duo of Monta Ellis and Steph Curry finished with 18 points apiece. David Lee was bothered my Gasol's length and finished with only 6 points on 3-7 shooting

The Lakers travel to Phoenix Friday night to take on the 1-0 Phoenix Suns.

Re: Redemption: NBA 2k12 Los Angeles Lakers Association

Devin Ebanks assigned to the D-League

Lakers fans hoping for Devin Ebanks to get some run will finally get their wish... sort of.

The organization just announced Ebanks will be sent down to the L.A. Defenders, the Lakers D-League affiliate. Having not played all year, this move hardly qualifies as a surprise. First and second year players are eligible for a stint in the "minors," so to speak, and franchises typically like taking advantage of this opportunity with youngsters buried on the bench. (And for those wondering, Ebanks in the D-League DOES NOT open up a roster spot, so don't treat this as a sign of a move in the works.)

As a card carrying member of the "I don't get why Ebanks can't crack the rotation" club, I get whatever disappointment may be felt by those hoping he'd get a shot at improving a wildly inconsistent small forward tandem. Personally, I think Devin's skill sets and athleticism provides a unique utility for the Lakers, and he started out the season looking pretty good before abruptly being removed from the rotation altogether. Plus, as one of the few young players on the roster -- and at a position of weakness to boot -- I think it would behoove the Lakers to figure out what they have in him moving forward. But for the time being, Mike Brown is going with Metta World Peace and Matt Barnes, and that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. And like I said, Ebanks is a young player, so from a developmental standpoint, he can't afford to take season-long residence in "DNP-County." He needs actual game-minutes, and the D-League will provide just that opportunity.

Better to remove your warmups as a Defender than remain a Laker who might as well be wearing a business suit underneath his during games.

Phoenix -- Kobe Bryant only played 16 minutes on Friday night but the Lakers won by 37 points extending their winning streak to 3 games.

After being up 81-49 points after the 1st half, the Lakers played their second unit the whole 2nd half and defeated the Suns 132-95. This was the third game in a row that the Lakers put up 120+ points against an opponent.

Andrew Bynum notched his second straight double double finishing with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kobe Bryant was right behind him with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assist, and 3 steals. Gasol rounded out the Big 3 by putting up 20 points.

Swingman Matt Barnes scored a season high 20 points off the bench and grabbed 6 boards.

Marcin Gortat paced the Suns with 25 points and 7 boards. Grant Hill finished with 21 points and Steve Nash chipped in with 18 points and 8 assist.
