Six Straight!
November 25th 2007
Today the Gulf Coast Eagles defeated Maryland Eastern Shore in a blowout to earn their sixth straight victory. With a 6-1 start to the season this is not how anyone expected the season to start for the Eagles. This season they have been doing a good job getting to the free-throw line and then converting on their chances. The Eagles also won the St. Padre Tournament B this week but in the final game they lost their starting power forward. This caused Coach Taylor to go with a smaller lineup with three guards a small forward and their starting center Kevin Cantinol, Cantinol being the only big man in tonight`s game had his best game of the season with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Coach Taylor was asked why he thought his team was so successful to start this season he responded with this ``We have been playing hard all season and the guys have not been giving up we don’t feel like the underdogs in any game we go into even if the analyst`s think we are, if we just play our style I feel that we have a good enough core to win a lot of games this year, we have guys that can shoot the three, guys who can get to the basket, guys who rebound the ball and everyone plays defense I think with that we can be a very competitive team.`` We`ll see next week as the first game played is vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils which should be a very tough test for these Eagles.

The team is playing well so far and that was a big win against the Big Ten's Hawkeyes.
I'm Not sure exactly what tournament i was in as i don't have internet access where my ps3 is i have to take my laptop outside as im on a network that is free to anyone in the village i live in i think it was called the St. Padre B tournament, and yeah the win vs the Hawkeyes was huge i did not expect to win that one i was just hoping to keep with them and then i found myself on a run in the final two minutes to put me ahead i was incredibly surprised to win that game but im also surprised that im 6-1 at the moment.

Baker's 25 not enough as Eagles Lose in a close one
November 28th 2007
FGCU’s six game win streak came to a halt today vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils the game was tight for the most part and The Eagles had a chance to send it into overtime but missed a three at the buzzer for Coach Taylor’s second career loss. Reed Baker put up 25 points in the loss and was lights out from beyond the arc going 5-8 this was almost enough to get the Eagles past a very good Sun Devils team but in the end it was not enough. Coach Taylor was asked how he felt after the loss he had this to say “it’s a little disappointing but I didn’t expect to go 30-1 on the season we’re going to lose a few games but as long as we keep putting in the effort that we’ve been putting in we have a chance to win every night.” From what the coach said it seems he sees this loss as an obstacle as opposed to a setback the Eagles will have a chance to get back to their winning ways Sunday night vs. FIU (1-2)

Re: Coaching Legacy of Dustin Taylor (CH2K8)

Overtime loss result of over fouling
December 2nd 2007
A second straight loss for the Gulf Coast Eagles this time coming vs. FIU in overtime this was tough loss as to get into overtime was tough enough to get into overtime and when the extra period started FIU was just too much. Two of the Eagles starters fouled out in overtime being Sherwood Brown and Kevin Cantinol and foul trouble did not only affect those two as almost everyone in the starting lineup was fouling all game. Essentially FIU won because of all the times they were sent to the line in the second and in overtime. FIU ended up converting 27-36 free throws in the win. Coach Taylor was asked about the game afterwards to which he responded “I think we did well today on paper they were the better team today and not many people thought we had a chance at beating them, I think to take them into overtime was an accomplishment in the eyes of the analysts and the press and maybe when it is time at the end of the season these types of games will help us in our conference tournament and the NIT or March Madness.” Clearly Coach Taylor still expects great things from his team even after the two straight losses. FGCU only has one game next week and it is vs. FAU.
