SACRAMENTO- Last year, there was almost nothing for Sacramento Kings fans to cheer about; with most jumping ship to playoff-bound teams in Cali, such as the Warriors, Lakers and Clippers; the Kings were often found as the laughing stock of the Western Conference. However, a constant bright spot in DeMarcus Cousins, who's season averages of 16.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game garnered him his first All-Star Selection and All-NBA nods. Said coach Keith Smart: "DeMarcus will continue to be our building piece to rebuild around for the future. He has the talent and his ceiling is miles away, still." However, things turned around for the Kings in the off-season, when trading fan favourite Tyreke Evans for the Wizards pick and Nene paid off, in the form of the #1 and #3 picks for Sacramento.
The Kings would quickly select consensus number 1 player Anthony Davis and consensus top shooting guard Brad Beal at number 3. However, the Kings brass were not finished as a large draft-day deal sent underwhelming Jrue Holiday and All-Rookie 2nd Team performer Isaiah Thomas, and just-drafted Brad Beal to the Nuggets in exchange for Ty Lawson. A questioned move, Lawson was excited at the prospects of playing with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. Lawson: "Certainly they will be one of the best frontcourts in the NBA the moment they set foot on-court together."
However, the Kings weren't finished, as Nene and Marcus Thornton, fresh off a career best 17 point per game season were sent packing, along with the 2013 2nd Round Pick to New Orleans in exchange for oft-injured rising star Eric Gordon and Emeka Okafor. By trading the 2013 pick, or one of them, ESPN expert Jeff van Gundy was certain that they were expecting no less than a playoff performance, as their 1st Round Pick in 2013 would soon be sent packing. The sunshine has finally rosen in Sacramento, and mayor and former NBA star Kevin Johnson believes that this is a team Sacramento can cheer for again.

*Minutes per game don't add up to 240; some players acquired in trades played more minutes in their previous teams than for the Sacramento Kings
SACRAMENTO- The Kings have continued to add depth to their roster, signing point guard Zabian Dowdell from the D-League. The long range sniper averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game during his tenure in the NBADL. The Kings signed him to a 1yr/480k deal. He will be on the roster for the team's next game against the Washington Wizards.
Kings Sign Reggie Evans
Kings sign PF Reggie Evans to a 1yr/480k deal
SACRAMENTO- The Kings inked free agent big man Reggie Evans to a 1yr/480k deal. Coach Keith Smart would make no comments specifically about Evans' role, but hinted he would be looking at over 10 minutes per game. The rebounding specialist spent last season with injury in Toronto, where he averaged an outstanding 11.2 rebounds per game. Combined with Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Brendan Wright and Joel Pryzbilla, Jeff van Gundy, on SportsCenter said this move could only improve the Kings which would give them "...consumate rebounding and defense [...] above all else, he's a great hustle guy.
Lawson, Williams pondering re-signing
SACRAMENTO- Ty Lawson is always one of the smallest players on the court, but his prescence and leadership makes him seem so much bigger as he was seen with his team-mates practicing in the Kings practice facility. Lawson hopes he and fellow team-mates Terrence Williams can continue practicing in that same facility. "Me and Terrence are good friends, and we'll see what transpires in terms of team success by the Re-Signing deadline, and yeah, we'll go from there!" he said, with a smile on his face. Lawson is having a break-out year, averaging nearly 24 points per game and 7 assists; Terrence Williams has averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game and is one of the team's defensive aces who have helped Sacramento turnaround for the new season.
