Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

Hello to all os'ers welcome to my first attempt at dynasty i have been a reader of dynasties for a long time but now have decided to start one ok here a few things to remember when reading my article.

#I started this dynasty way back in December last year but i moved house and thought i had lost my 2k12 copy but only 2 days ago i found it. So i will be starting from the date of where i have last played my dynasty which is the 21st of Jan 2012. Ill post tables, stats and all the other stuff so people can keep my with what i have done so far.

#Trades such as monta ellis to bucks, stephen jackson to the spurs and so forth have not happened yet since i started this before the deadline but will do these once i reach the trade deadline. Draft classes being used is this years draft class so guys like Anthony Davis, MKG, Brad Beal are being used. Also have made sure lineups are as real as possible so like Jeremy Lin making his knicks debut against the nets and such..

Here are some stat tables to look over while i write up an intro hope you guys enjoy this and don't be too harsh on a 1st timer!!

Re: Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

Kobe's Pursuit of Number 6:

When Kobe and the lakers were swept by the Dallas Mavericks in last years playoffs this image represented a time of change in Lakerland. Last year was supposed to Be Phil Jackson Last hurah before he retired from coaching, this was supposed to be the year that Kobe got his 6th Ring, it was supposed to be LeBron Vs Kobe in the finals for the first time and to finally decide who was the best player on the Planet.

But Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs had different plans after sweeping the Lakers they went on to beat the OKC thunder in the conference finals then the Big 3 and the Miami heat to win there first title. After the sweep many people asked if the lakers were getting too old? Is Pau Gasol too soft? Is Andrew Bynum too immature to live up to his potential? But more importantly who was going to taking over from the Zen Master as coach

Enter Mike Brown the former NBA coach of the year who coached LeBron James in Cleveland, Brown a terrific coach in his own right had big shoes to fill when getting the nod as the head honcho in LA. While brown known for being a great defensive minded coach has being criticized while coach of the Cavs in not being able to get the Cavs a Championship after being the best team in the regular season in 2 consecutive seasons getting eliminated in the conference semis and conference finals. Does brown have enough to get this group to the finals again?? Will he able to get Kobe that 6th ring only time will tell.

Re: Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

LA Lakers review so far.

This year has been quite eventful in the NBA but even more so for the LA Lakers. The vetoed trade of Chris Paul that would of made him a Laker but instead he plays in LA but for the Clippers , the trade of Lamar Odom to the defending champion Dallas Mavericks for practically nothing and of course the first year without Hall of fame coach Phil Jackson.

But the Lakers have played well over the first 39 games this year compiling a 27-12 record which is the tied for 2nd in the west with old foes the San Antonio Spurs and 3 games back from OKC Thunder.

OFFENSE:

The Lakers play this year has been quite good at times many people questioned before the season started if Mike Brown could get this offense to function without the triangle which many of this players are accustomed to over the years. The Results so far have been quite staggering considering all the disruption this year Kobe is the top scorer in the league averaging 28.1 while Andrew Bynum has become the team 2nd best scorer averaging 18.4 a game. The team is currently 2nd in the league averaging 105.4 a game only behind the Denver Nuggets.

The ball movement has been great with the lakers also third in assists a game with 24.5 with Kobe leading the way as well with 6.1 a game. The surprise package this year has been Chris Jennings a former d-leaguer that was signed as cover for Metta World peace who has been sidleined since early November with a knee injury. Jennings is averaging 17.4 points per game and has become a great all round player average 5 boards and 5 assists as well. But Pau Gasol has been below his best averaging 16.6 points a career low 2.7 assists also a career low on 50% shooting.

While the team is one of the better offenses there bench remains a weak point with Matt Barnes a top scorer averaging only 6 points a game maybe at the deadline the Lakers can make a move to get better bench production

Defense: The defense has been much better with Brown being a defensive minded coach only allowing 95 points a game which is 6th best in the league. Having 2 7 footers is an advantage in the paint with Gasol and Bynum averaging close to 2 blocks a game each. But the surprising aspect of the defense has been the perimeter defense. The knock on the Lakers last year was that they were not a great perimeter defense team but this year the play has been surprising to say the least Kobe is currently tied for 5th in the league for steals averaging 2 a game while young gun Chris Jennings averaging 1.7 steals a game. Overall the defense has been a big improvement

Overall: The team is heading quite well heading the halfway stage there are still a few things the team needs to work on such as turnovers 27th in the league and free throw percentage 21st also 3pt shooting has to improve 15th in the league also getting some scoring from there bench players because kobe, bynum, gasol cant do there thing every night. If the Lakers improve these things and players like Bynum and Jennings can keep performing consistently and take less stress of Kobe then the Lakers should be considered a favorite for this years NBA title

Re: Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

AROUND THE NBA:

The Dwight Howard saga continues with the superstar reportedly requesting a trade to a contender before the trade deadline. Howard is unhappy with the direction the magic are taking and is wanting out. The Nets,Bulls,Thunder and Lakers are interested.

Pau Gasol is on the trade block according to Chris Broussard as the Lakers are looking to move the big man. With emergence of Chris Jennings at the small forward position Gasol has become expendable and the Lakers believe that Bynum,Kobe and Jennings can win a title with these three. Expect the Lakers to look for draft picks and bench scoring. A number teams are interested including 76ers,bulls,suns,and the celtics.

Coach Paul Silas of the Charlotte Bobcats appears to be on the outers with the team having a 6-34 record which is the worst in the NBA. Silas asked if he was concerned with his job security said "i cant control what management does i can only control what i can do which is coach this team"

Dwayne wade and Udonis haslem have picked up slight niggles in there last game against the bulls wade (hamstring) and haslem (elbow) there a game time decision against the bucks.

Re: Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

KOBE LEADS LAKERS TO VICTORY WITH 4TH QUARTER HEROICS.

The Los Angeles Lakers have bounced back snapping a two game losing streak by defeating the Indiana Pacers 98-91 in a tightly contested game. Kobe Bryant was the star of the night scoring 33 points including 14 in the 4th quarter alone. The pacers were the ones that got off to a hot start shooting over 57% in the first half and held the Lakers in check with great lock down defense taking a 55-45 lead into half time. The Lakers came out in the 3rd quarter with fire by attacking the basket and drawing fouls Andrew Bynum who had 20 points and 14 rebounds on the night was the catalyst for the Lakers in the 3rd Contributing 8 points 5coming from the foul line and doing great work on the glass. But determined to keep there lead Danny Granger sparked a mini fight back in the end of the 3rd hitting two jump-shots in 16 secs after a 2 laker turnovers to keep the game close.

However in the 4th the pacers started out slow going 1-6 in the first 4 mins of the quarter settling for too many contested 3 pt shots and jump-shots and not attacking the paint that made them successful in the first half. Kobe Bryant the took over and was getting to any spot he wanted the pacers tried multiple people covering bryant but he was feeling it and wouldn't be denied this night.

The scored tied at 89 with a 1.30 to go in the fourth Chris Jennings dribbled the ball up the court took a sharp cut to the right and drove the lane only to see bryant in the corner pocket. Jennings kicked it out to Bryant who hit the dagger 3. The pacers just lost there way after this the shot clock ran down and roy hibbert was forced to put up a contested long jump-shot which bryant secured with 37 secs to go. The pacers had no choice but to foul for the rest of the way and the Lakers secured victory and avenge a loss they took to the pacers earlier in the year in Indiana.

After the game Kobe was really thrilled to be back in the winning circle.

"This one felt good these guys beat us earlier in the year and we wanted to get one back on them. After the two tough losses we took to the Jazz and the clippers it was good to get a win and hopefully we can build from here".

The lakers play the trail blazers in Portland on Tuesday. While the pacers go back to Indiana to play the Orlando magic

Re: Kobe's Pursuit of no 6: A Los Angeles Dynasty (2k12)

NBA RUMOURS FOR 24TH JAN 2012:

Dwight Howard is still seeking a trade to a contender but the magic are after the best deal avalible regardless of whether or not the team with the best offer is a contender or not according to Chris Broussard of ESPN. Broussard has clamied that "multiple sources" have suggested that Howard who has been asked to be traded at the begining the season wants to leave Orlando ASAP as he feels that Orlando has not given him enough help to win him win a championship and is frustrated with the direction the magic are going in.

Broussard also claims that at the moment the Lakers are the front runners for Howards services with a package of Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum plus draft picks. However he has also said that the Thunder have made a late push with a offering of James Harden,Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins plus picks. Only time will tell if he is traded or not as Howard himself has not publicly stated he has wanted out.

The Los Angeles Lakers are close to a deal with the Denver Nuggets in acquiring Spainish swingman Rudy Fernandez reports the LA times. The deal is set to be close to done as both the nuggets and lakers have a verbal argreement that would send Fernandez for Lakers foward Matt Barnes and a 1st round pick this move would help improve the Lakers bench scoring but would diminish the front court of the lakers as but with the emergence of Chris Jennings and the pending return of Metta World Peace that leaves Barnes fighting for playing time in Lakerland.

Steve Nash is wondering if he should sign and extension with the Suns or pursue Free agency according to reports. Nash who is 38 wants to go to a contending team and pursue a championship that has eluded the former 2 time mvp. But if the suns can surround him with players that can make the suns contend then he would take less money to stay. A number of teams have shown intrest for Nash if he decides to enter FA next summer with the Knicks,Magic,Raptors and Mavs all in the hunt.

Finally the Charlotte Bobcats who were on a 19 game losing streak beat the New York Knicks 91-87. The Bobcats who havent won since Dec 11th played great team defense containing Carmelo Anthony to Just 11 points on 4-18 shooting. After the game Tyrus Thomas who had a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds said it was just a great relief to finally get a win after so long. The knicks however who are now 17-24 and on a 7 game losing streak let the fire D'Antoni Chants in MSG start up and the rumor mill fire up..
