Charlotte Signs C Greg Oden, 4 Others

Charlotte (NC) - After trading the #7 overall selection Tyler Zeller to the Milwaukee Bucks as a part of a trade for Brandon Jennings, the Charlotte Bobcats needed another plan at center.

Then they began targeting often injured center Greg Oden as their prized possession in free agency and it appears to have paid off.

On Saturday, it paid off.

The Bobcats signed the former #1 overall pick to a 4 year/$55.2 million deal with a team option for a fifth year.

"I'm excited for a fresh start. Thankful to the ownership group for having faith in me. I look forward to playing with a great PG in Brandon Jennings for years to come."

Oden has played in just 146 games over his 4 years in the NBA. He did play in 64 games for the Heat last season and averaged 11.5 points and 8 rebounds per game.

"We won the championship in Miami last year and I think we can have success to that extent here as well."
