Re: The Awakenining In Nap City-Indiana Pacers
NBA Draft Buzz
9:15PM-According to Ric Bucher "The Indiana Pacers and the Utah Jazz have agreed on a trade that will send Danny Granger to the Jazz in return for Gorden Hayword and the 13th overall pick. There is more on this coming."
9:23pm-There is more information on the Pacers and Jazz trade. According to Ric Bucher, the Indiana Pacers also send their 2013 and 2014 2nd round picks, along with Miles Plumlee to the Jazz. In return, the Pacers will also receive forward Jeremy Evans
Jalen Rose-The Pacers have been looking for a trade partner to get rid of Danny for awhile now, but I feel the Pacers have given up to much in this trade. Two picks and Plumlee for Evans? Seriously? This confuses me.
Chris Mullen-Well, this does open up $24mil in cap space for them entering free agency. So, I think this is a steal for the Pacers. I mean lets be honest, Plumlee wasn't going to be sticking around after next year anyways so they get cap space, a young shooter in Hayword, and an athletic forward. I like this deal.
Jeff Van Gundy- This trade works for both teams. The Jazz have been looking for a leader and they got it in Granger. They also get a couple 2nd round picks to build their bench. The Pacers got a steal in this though! To get that much out of an aging wing man is crazy.
Chris Mullin- Aging???He's only 30 years old Jeff. He isn't over the hill like you yet! He has a good three years before we start talking about getting too old. So the price the Jazz paid to get a guy to compete now was well worth it. Aging?? Jeesh.
Jeff Van Gundy- Here comes the commissioner with the Pacers' pick from the Jazz.
David Stern-With the 13th pick in the 2013 NBA draft, the Indiana Pacers draft, Trey Burke, from the University of Michigan .
Jalen Rose-I like! Go get em' young fella! The Pacers did good here. They know what they are thinking picking Burke from Michigan.
Jeff Van Gundy- Haha Im sure you like it Jalen. But lets be honest, shouldn't Burke have gone a lot higher? He put together a great season and was the Player Of The Year, but he slips to the 13th pick?
Chris Mullin- Has to be something we haven't seen. I thought he would be a top 5 pick for sure after that great run.
Jalen Rose- Heck after that run I thought he would have gone 1st overall. This kid can ball. The Pacers have found their point guard of the future tonight. Watch out everyone, this team will be dangerous for many years to come.
David Stern-With the 24th pick in the 2013 NBA draft, the Indiana Pacers select Gorgui Dieng, from the University of Louisville.
Chris Mullin-Well, what do you guys think about this pick? I feel it was a reach here. He wasn't expected to come off that board until midway through the 2nd round, so 24th overall?
Jeff Van Gundy-this feels like a repeat last year when they drafted Plumlee. A reach for sure, but I guess they feel they could reach on their guy since Burke slipped down to them.
Jalen Rose- I still can't get over that. But now you have two players who played in the NCAA Championship game getting drafted to the same team. You can't deny the experience they got with that. Dieng is a very athletic big man. Maybe they have plans of making him a power forward in the future?
Jeff Van Gundy- Well there you have it folks. The 2013 NBA Draft is officially over. It's been an exciting night for sure and we look forward to opening up the 2013-14 season with you guys in October. Until then, have a good night everyone.
