The Take Over

Changes needed to be made. With the Celtics aging and looking like they are on the decline, They decided to higher a new GM to hopefully make the team once again a "Beast in the East".

Ryan Mullings was hired in order to do 1 thing. Rebuild the Celtics back younger, faster and better than ever before and to do that he needed to get rid of 2 key pieces of the team. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

Moving KG to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan and a first round pick was at first surprising. Jordan is extremely raw offensively and in late game situations he stays off the floor due to poor free throw shooting. "He is going to be the back bone of the defense. The guy is 7 foot tall and can jump out of the gym, not to mention he is only 24 years of age." Said Mullings when asked about the trade.

Moving Pierce to the 76ers was a bit more difficult to do. In a 3 team trade the Celtics received Evan Turner for The Truth. Evan Turner ; a former 2nd pick in his draft class has struggled his first two seasons. "We are going to put him in a situation to succeed. There won't be much pressure on him to do too much as long as he is rebounding and playing solid defense."

The Celtics do look much younger and more athletic however with the lack of maturity how many games can this team win?

How will Doc work with his new team?

Doc Rivers on the look of his team going into the season:

"Well Rondo is going to be happy. We will finally be able to match his speed with the players around him to make the offense more dynamic. Uh, Playing small most of the time would be to our advantage since Green is a combo forward.

First and foremost we are going to be a defensive team. Getting stops on defense and then pushing the ball in transition for easy buckets. Gonna have to play around with lineups to see what works and what doesn't. "
