-Chill-'s Coaching Career (College Hoops)

I've been doing dynasty blogs for quite some time and after a little bit of a hiatus, I wanted to start one back up, mostly for my records and what not but also for people to enjoy if they wanted to.

Now I use to play the crap out of CH 2k8 but somehow that got either stolen, or borrowed and never returned to me, so here I am, stuck with CH 2k7, which I equally played the crap out of but unfortunately am stuck with super old rosters. With current aspirations of becoming a basketball coach, I figured what the heck, my as well see how I am in the virtual world.

Settings:

QTR Length: 12 Minutes
Difficulty: All Conference
Recruiting: All done by myself, no assistance
Schedule: Will keep as realistic as possible, with the note of a few games against high profile teams.

My Team: VMI Cadets

Back Story: My fiance went to college in Lexington, VA for awhile at Washington & Lee and literally up the street from their campus is VMIs (as they pronounced the "veemis"). So without a clue as to what school I wanted to start out with (and maybe stay with, I tend to be a loyal person but who knows..) When I saw them in the list of teams to choose, I figured why not. It gives me a little personal invested interest in them and I figured I'd go for it.

I use to do a lot of reports at the old Madden Mania and at other sites since that merged over here, and I love college basketball so I figured I'd get this rolling too, especially with NCAA 14 dropping relatively soon, I'd like to get back in the swing of things. This I intend to keep going for awhile, however things might slow up a bit when new games come out that I get but, this is something I hope not to end anytime soon.

SGLevar Joseph #21Fred Robinson #5

As you can see we are going with a very small lineup, this is the most talented 10 man rotation I could put together with this clan of misfits, lol.. So here it goes, our go to scorers will hopefully be Levar Joseph who is a gunner from 3, and Reggie Williams who usually knocks down the mid range jumper. It will be a tough go with this lineup, but hopefully with recruiting and a lower level conference schedule we'll be able to compete a little bit.

Sidenote: I figured out why the bench players were coming up as DNP after this game, so that will be fixed.

Key Notes:

~ The Name of the game today was defense, we destroyed them on the turnover front and despite the numbers being in our favor, by only 5 turnovers (14-9) it seemed like much more during the game, and each turnover led to a fast break bucket. (I like to push the tempo with any team.)

~ Levar Joseph was enfuego, this man was hitting absolutely everything early on and kept our early small lead keeping Howard at bay.

~ Great all around games from Chavis Holmes and Reggie Williams, both who will be around next year for our squad put in great all around performances. Holmes was key in many of the turnovers notching 4 steals and a few other deflections to go along with his 5 assist and 3 rebounds, oh and not to mention he poured in 19 points too. Williams notched the VMIs first double-double of the season 16 points and 11 rebounds, both were key in breaking the game open to start the second half with a 18-2 run.

~ After the initial run, when we had some subs in Howard tried to make a bit of a comeback and cut the lead to single digits, after the reserves held them off bay a little bit, the starters came back in and the trio of Joseph, Holmes, and Williams lit the spark of another run and propelled us to a 24 point victory.
