Re: Manhattan's Finest: New York Knicks Association (NBA2K14)

Introduction

Just one season removed from a season in which the Knicks posted a 54-28 record and lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks have now revamped their entire roster.

Over the off-season, center Tyson Chandler, forward Amar'e Stoudemire, and guards Raymond Felton and JR Smith were all dealt away in trades.

Stoudemire and Felton were traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for guards Goran Dragic and Ish Smith, and forwards Gerald Green and Channing Frye. Guard Beno Udrih was also dealt to Phoenix in the trade.

Chandler was sent along with the Knicks' next two 1st round draft selections and their 2nd round draft selection in 2015 to the Orlando Magic in exchange for promising center Nikola Vucevic. The Knicks also acquired forward Hedo Turkoglu and guard Ronnie price in the deal.

Lastly, in a very shocking deal, the Knicks dealt Smith, along with the aforementioned Frye to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for up-and-coming guard DeMar DeRozen.

While many Knicks fans welcome the additions of Dragic, Vucevic, and DeRozen, there are also many who question the trades of Smith and Chandler, two players who helped the Knicks out a lot over the past few seasons. Only time will tell what effect these trades will have.

Re: Manhattan's Finest: New York Knicks Association (NBA2K14)

New York Knicks 2013-14 Opening Day Roster

STARTING LINEUP

PG Goran Dragic

The signing of guard Eric Bledsoe made Dragic expendable in Pheonix, so the Knicks traded for the Slovenian hoping he could be a solid upgrade over Raymond Felton. Dragic had career highs in points, assists, steals, and rebounds last season, and will look to make more of an impact with the Knicks this season.

SG Iman Shumpert

Shumpert only played 45 games last year, but he still made his presence felt whenever he was on the court. He emerged as one of the top defenders in the league last season, and, with JR Smith gone, he looks to get more minutes on the court this season.

SF Carmelo Anthony

The defending scoring champion will move back to his natural position at the 3, with Kenyon Martin moving into the starting line-up. Anthony would love to repeat as the scoring champion, but winning an NBA championship is his priority this season. With a brand new supporting cast, Anthony should flourish as the teams leading scorer.

PF Kenyon Martin

Martin emerged late in the season as a defensive enforcer for the Knicks, which earned him a brand new contract. With Chandler gone, he more than likely will be the top defender in the post, with Vucevic still developing his interior defense.

C Nikola Vucevic

A young center with a ceiling as tall as the Statue of liberty, Vucevic has 20-20 potential on a night-to-night basis. The Knicks gave up a lot in order to get him, so expectations for him will be huge this season.

NOTABLE BENCH PLAYERS

SG Demar DeRozan

DeRozan emerged as a playmaker for the Raptors last season, and looks to pick up right where he left off as a member of the Knicks. He likely will be the Sixth Man on the team to start out, but he could end up in the starting lineup should Shumpert falter.

SF/PF Metta World Peace

While he is no longer the offensive threat that he once was, the former Ron Artest is still a solid defender and swing-man. He should get plenty of minutes off the bench, and can start in a pinch for the Knicks.

PF Andrea Bargnani

While he has yet to live up to his #1 overall selection in 2006, Bargnani still looks to contribute in New York. He still has potential as a scorer and post defender, but must work on his rebounding.

THE REST OF THE BENCH

SG Tim Hardaway, Jr.

SF Hedo Turkoglu

PG Pablo Prigioni

PG Ish Smith

PG Ronnie Price

SF Gerald Green

C Cole Aldrich

KNICKS OPEN SEASON WITH WIN OVER BUCKS

Anthony Picks Up Right Where He Left Off

MANHATTAN, NY - Coming into the regular season, there were questions on whether or not the New York Knicks would have any drop off, considering that they dealt three of their key players from just a year ago.

Carmelo Anthony put all of those questions to rest in their first game of the season.

Anthony lead all scorers with 32 points, as the New York Knicks knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks, 110-103, in the season opener.

Newly acquired guard DeMar DeRozan put up 20 points off of the bench.

"People had been constantly asking me, "Melo, how are you going to do with the pressure of being the only scorer on the team?"" Anthony said in a press conference after the game. "I feel like those kind of questions really are disrespectful to guys like DeMar and Goran [Dragic]."

Dragic had a solid game himself with 11 points, five rebounds, and eight assists.

Bucks guard O.J. Mayo put up 22 points, and center Larry Sanders followed up with 18 points and 15 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Knicks next test comes tomorrow as they head to Chicago to take on Derrick Rose and the Bulls.
