BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics hectic scramble to begin preparing for the future took another big step today as owner Bernard Patton went out and hired Michael Anthony as their new GM. This move comes on the heels of the announcement that long time Celtic Paul Pierce and fellow championship teammate Kevin Garnett would be traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

"Michael Anthony is young and hungry just like the rest of our guys," said Patton. "We are looking to head into the future with a strong team that can contend for years and that starts here with a rebuild. However, don't think we will abandon our desire to still perform well in this league. We are still the Boston Celtics and this team will be held to high standards."

Michael Anthony has not had any experience in the NBA, nor any other sport. The move has been called radical as the young 22 year old has been given the reigns on perhaps the most prolific team in NBA history. When questioned about his youth Anthony responded, "Theo Epstein was a pretty young guy here in Boston and I recall him turning in 2 World Series Rings. Perhaps youth is the way to go and Boston is the city making these waves."

Anthony will have to contend this season with a new coach Brad Stevens and a team devoid of names aside from long term star and headache Rajon Rondo.

CELTICS TRADE GREEN, RELEASE OPENING DAY ROSTER

BOSTON -- It was announced today that the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks had come to a trade agreement before the start of the new season. Boston will send 27 year old small forward Jeff Green to the Bucks in return for 26 year old center Ekpe Udoh and a 2014 1st Round Draft Pick.

"The Boston Celtics are in a rebuild mode, right now that means acquiring young talent as well as draft picks. In this case we did both, Milwaukee sees themselves as a team that should contend now and if we can help with that as well, I see it as a win-win solution," says GM Anthony.

Michael Anthony didn't wait long to start impacting this roster, owner Bernard Patton praised the move saying that it was his intention that the Celtics try to acquire another first round pick.

Bradley Pours in 22 as Celtics Down Raptors 96-85

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics captured their first win of the season on the road today against the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors led by Demar DeRozen, who had 31 points, faltered in the second quarter and Boston never looked back from there. The Celtics were led by the scoring efforts of their starting guards as Avery Bradley put up 22 and Rajon Rondo posted 21 with 7 assists.

This win marks the first in the career of Brad Stevens and the first in the post Pierce-KG era. Speaking on behalf of the team GM Michael Anthony said, "We are very proud of these men today, we are going to be underdogs all season. Today I think we sent a message that we are still the defensive powerhouse that has become a staple of the Boston Celtic organization. We also showed that we can still put the points up if necessary as we had a healthy heaping of 3 pointers go up throughout the game."

We also managed to catch up with Brad Stevens who spoke briefly on his first win. "Today was a great feeling but in the end its just 1 game of 82. We still have a long season ahead of us, today we struggled at the free throw line and that is unacceptable. We still have things to work on, the Bucks are only a couple days away and that is my new focus."

The Boston Celtics will return to the Garden in Boston for their home opener against Milwaukee this Friday.

Celtics Pick Up Win Over Bucks 107-103, Lose Rondo

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics came away with the win tonight at home in what was a shootout between Bradley and Mayo. Bradley would eventually finish with 26 points. However, the big story from tonight's game was the injury of star player Rajon Rondo. Rondo went down following a made shot early in the first quarter and had to be escorted to the back by his teammates. According to team doctors the injury is a Severe Ankle Sprain and will sideline Rondo for the next 2-4 weeks.

Brad Stevens had this to say, "It's an unfortunate thing to lose a player, especially the caliber of Rondo. When he went down I initially thought of his ACL which he tore last season. Luckily it is only his ankle and with some rest we hope it won't nag him the rest of the season."

It's never a good thing to lose a player in the season, but the Celtics are fortunate it is early and they'll have plenty of time to recover if necessary. The team will travel to Detroit to begin a 2 game road trip this Sunday.

CELTICS DROP FIRST GAME WITHOUT RONDO

Brandon Jennings scores his 5000th point of his career

DETROIT -- The Detroit Pistons picked up their first win of the season this year as they defeated the Boston Celtics 100-91. Detroit was led by Brandon Jennings who scored 25 points and didn't miss a single shot from the field. It was a big night for Jennings as he scored his 5000th career point.

The Celtics hung around in this one until the 4th when the team began to struggle from the field. Boston also received more bad news as it was revealed that Brandon Bass rolled his ankle and will need to rest for a couple games to avoid further aggravating the injury.

The team won't have time to dwell on their first loss without star point guard Rajon Rondo as they will have to travel to Memphis for a game with the Grizzlies tomorrow night.

SULLINGER'S SEASON OVER - TEARS ACL IN WIN OVER MEMPHIS

Sullinger will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL

MEMPHIS -- The Boston season took another devestating hit today as Jared Sullinger tore his ACL in the 4th quarter of a victory over the Grizzlies. Sullinger played in only 45 games last year and only 4 this year. He has ammassed a total of 49 games since being drafted by Boston in 2012.

GM Michael Anthony has stated, "Currently we are not looking to make a move to acquire new talent despite the injuries. We recently traded for Udoh and will allow him a chance to start. If not we have great depth on this bench and know we can succeed with them."

Boston has now lost 3 players in the last 3 games. Rajon Rondo is out for another 1-2 weeks. Brad Stevens has announced that he and Brandon Bass in light of recent circumstances have worked out a few minutes in the rotation for him to play despite the sprained ankle. A broken down Boston will travel back home for a 1 game home stand against the Utah Jazz this Wednesday.

BAYLESS DROPS CAREER HIGH 32 IN WIN OVER JAZZ

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics came out and defended their home court today despite the loss of 2 starters. Backup PG Jerryd Bayless stepped up for the team and dropped a career high 32 to help lead the team past the Jazz. The Jazz stayed in the fight till the 4th when Derrick Favors cooled off from his 30 point outburst.

Speaking with Bayless after the game, "Today I was just able to drive the lane and get to the hoop which is all you can really ask for. If I drove and they closed in I dished the ball. We were left open for a lot of easy shots today. I don't expect that to happen again, a lot of teams are going to pick up on it."

Boston will now travel to Orlando for a Friday game with the Magic to start their brief 2 game road trip.

Celtics Barely Escape Orlando in Bass' Return to Starting Lineup

ORLANDO -- The Boston Celtics came away with a win today against Orlando in a thrilling 4 quarter battle. Jerryd Bayless and Jameer Nelson battled throughout the entire game elevating each others play. Bayless would lead the Celtics with 22 points and Nelson led the Magic with 21.

Speaking with Brad Stevens he said, "It was great to have Bass back in the lineup to give us more strength under the basket. I believe this team is showing that in the face of adversity we can stick together." He also spoke on Sullinger, "We have received word that his surgery was a success and team doctors will continue to work with him."

The Celtics now travel a short distance to Miami for a game with Lebron and the Heat tomorrow night.
