Denying Father Time -- San Antonio Spurs Association

Denying Father Time

San Antonio Spurs Association

Game: NBA 2K14
Console: PC
Mode: Association
Rosters: Alby's RR 2.3
Sliders: Alby's SuperSim Sliders
Difficulty: Superstar
Draft Classes: Mauroth DC '14 and '15
Season Length: 82 Games
Playoffs: 7-7-7-7

Playstyle and Transactions: I will try to play sim basketball. My main goal is to have fun and simultaneously to have long and realistic association, as far as my team goes -- I WIL NOT interfere with what computer AI does. I will be resting Timmy, Tony and Manu when possible. However I will sim first season and just post awards etc. for 2013/14 season because the regular season is over and I'm just too eager to start new one. Also, I have some rules about trades and transactions, so let's get to that.

Trades and Transactions Rules: Since I'm playing with Spurs I will not be doing many trades -- 1 per season that is initiated by me and 1 CPU-initiated trade. I can sign only Free Agents that are young and coachable, old vets that can't find new team and players that fill the Spurs philosophy. I cannot trade Timmy, Ginobili, Tony or Kawhi Leonard. Players will not be overpayed, the plan is to stay under Tax Cap. First season there will be no transactions. Also, according to my win count I can sign only players with certain overall(inspired by ReidSkee's idea). And these scale go as following.

Under 25 Wins -- players under overall 67
25-35 Wins -- players under overall 71
35-45 Wins -- players under overall 74
45-55 Wins -- players under overall 80
55-65 Wins -- players under overall 90
65-82 Wins -- every player not named LeBron

Re: Denying Father Time -- San Antonio Spurs Association

Spurs clinch 4th playoff spot, disappointing team effort

San Antonio, TX -- San Antonio Spurs once again made the playoffs under the tutorage of the great Gregg Popovich. They won 51 games, extending their run of 50+ wins in a season to 15 season. It would be 17 if there was not a lockout in late '90s.

Tony was once again the star of the team, scoring 18.7 per game, but his assists are down from 7.6 per game to 5 per game this season. The answer lies in nagging injuries that Tony had during the course of the season. He enters the playoffs with a back spasms but is expected to play.

Timmy Duncan, The Big Fundamental, was healthy all season long and displayed marvelous performances troughout the season while netting 20/10 per 36 minutes. His production didn't take a slight dip from last year.

The third player of the "Big 3" Manu Ginobili had some injury issues but still managed to play 73 games on a restricted minutes -- only 20.1 per game, his lowest in his career. First time in last 11 years he didn't eclipse 10 points per game mark, falling short only by 0.2. He was efficient by making 44.4% of his field goals and 39.5 percent of his long balls.

Team as a whole scored only 98 points per game, indicating that they are perfect for slow-paced playoffs. That mark puts them at 23rd "best" offense in the league. They did however allow only 93.3 points per game which makes them the best defense in the league, followed by Bulls who allowed 94.5 points per game. Spurs were unusually ineffective from the field. They shot only 45.4 percent from the field which makes them 12th in the NBA. They hold that place in 3PT percentage as well. They did however commit third lowest turnovers in the league -- only 12.3 per game.

They clinched disappointing 4th spot in tough Western Conference and will play against youthful and fast-break-loving Denver Nuggets.

Injuries trouble Spurs as they get ready for Playoffs

San Antonio, TX -- Spurs wouldn't be Spurs if the didn't have injuries bothering them in the pursuit of yet another NBA Finals appearance.

Tony Parker, as mentioned before, has back spasm and will not be 100% fit another 2 weeks. This will be major obstacle if Pop decides that Tony is not ready to go. But knowing Tony he will not risk first round exit because he feels pain. It is expected that Patty Mills will receive more minutes with Parker injured.

Another big blow is Manu's strained hamstring. He is day-to-day decision but will play his regular season, as told to press by Coach Pop.

Pop also said that he wants to make bigger push with their "Big 3" this season because he doesn't know how much more Manu and Duncan can take. Their bodies took a lot of toll in their respective careers, especially with Manu's slashing style and Duncan wrestling under the basket and in the post in the last 17 years.

Starting lineup is as following: Tony Parker and Danny Green in the backcourt, Kawhi Leonard and Tim Duncan at the forward positions and Splitter manning the middle. Bench mob will be assembled by great role players like Boris Diaw, who was a starter in regular season, Manu Ginobili, Marco Bellinelli and Patty Mills.

First game of the 2014 Playoffs will be played at San Antonio Spurs arena AT&T Center on 19th April, 2014. We eagerly anticipate another deep playoff run from Gregg Popovich's crew.

Re: Denying Father Time -- San Antonio Spurs Association

Duncan-led Spurs sweep Denver, OKC in trouble?

San Antonio, TX -- San Antonio Spurs have swept younger, more athletic Denver Nuggets. Denver stood no chance as they got beaten by average margin of 10, most being 20 in Game 4.

Duncan, once again, at the age of 37 led his Spurs being the top scorer with 24.2 points, best rebounder with 8 rebounds and averaging 2.5 assists while blocking 1.3 shots in staggering 38.3 minutes per game, almost 8 more than in regular season. Second best scorer was Kawhi Leonard with 15.2 points. Tony Parker played limited minutes, averaging only 29 per game. But that is due to his back spasm. He did contribute with 14 points, 1.3 steals and 5.3 assists per game.

Patty Mills and Belinelli averaged 9.7 and 9 points per game while coming off the pine. However another two guards were less than impressive, one being Manu and second being Danny Green. Manu played with strained hamstring which limited him to only 17 minutes per game in which he averaged 4.7 points per game, 3.8 assists per game and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 26.1% from the field and 20% beyond the arc. Danny was efficient but scored only 6.8 per game. His 3 point shot was not falling in regular fashion, connecting only on 30% of his attempts.

Spurs will go to Oklahoma City in Conference Semifinals. Oklahoma City Thunder struggled against Memphis who took them to 7 games. They will certainly be exhausted, especially with Durant, Perkins and Nick Collison injured. Nick and Durant are reported to play, while Perk is reportedly out 6-8 months with knee injury, still having to go under MRI to determine what kind of injury we are talking about.

In Western Conference second pair that will play in WC Semi's are Golden State Warriors who swept Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers, 7th seed who knocked out second seed Kevin Love-led Minnesotta Timberwolves.

In Eastern Conference Indiana Pacers, number one seed, lost to Toronto Raptors in 7 games who will play Brookly Nets. Nets beat Charlotte Bobcats in 6 games. LeBron and Rose will have rematch of 2011 playoffs. Miami as second seeded team beat Detroit Pistons in 6 while Chicago beat Oladipo-led Magic in 5 games. We have many surprises this year in both regular season and in playoffs. And it's only going to get better with two NBA Finals before NBA Finals in Miami-Chicago and Spurs-OKC matchups.
