SEASON SERIES 1-0 DET |
MVP: Andre Drummond. Drummond finished with a monster double double with 20 points and 18 rebounds while shooting a scorching 8-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe. Drummond has made a early claim as one of the premier big men in the association.
LVP: Ricky Rubio. For a guy that can't shoot the rock, Rubio sure likes to take a lot of shots. Rubio went a woeful 9-of-21 from the field on his way to scoring 19 points. No way should a point guard take that many shots during a game, especially a point guard that's not known for his scoring abilities. Detroit let Rubio take long jumper after long jumper all night long.
X-Factor: D.J. Augustin. The backup point guard played up to the contract the Pistons gave him this offseason nearly notching a double double off the bench. Augustin finished with 19 points and a season high 9 assist in 24 minutes off the pine. The Augustin/Jennings backcourt played really well for head coach Stan Van Gundy.
Rookie Watch: Andrew Wiggins. The number one overall pick showed flashes and was on his way to having a great outing, but his point guard all of a sudden forgot how to pass. Wiggins poured in 10 first quarter points but only scored 3 points the rest of the way while grabbing 3 rebounds and shooting 4-of-9 from the field.
Injury Report: Nikola Pekovic. Pekovic left the game with a sever ankle sprain but came back and played the rest of the way finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
