Coming into today we have managed to drop the last three games and even with that we still find ourselves in prime position to grab a playoff spot. Even with a nice cushion almost guaranteeing us a playoff spot, you don't really want to head into postseason losing a lot. With that said that made today's home game against the Celtics that much more important.
Neither of the teams really came out looking to play though and we were able to get out to a weird 8-2 lead in the first 5 minutes of play with the Celtics' 2 points coming off of free throws on 2 separate possessions. Boston would continue to have troubles shooting the ball, while we would soon settle down getting a heavy dose of Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Walker would be the main force for either side as he'd score 13 first half points, taking it to the rookie. On the defensive side of the ball it was Noah Vonleh who was leading everybody with 8 boards making it look too easy against Sullinger.
Despite being nearly doubling up the Celtics 30-18 at one point, we'd only manage to come back from half with a 6 point lead. After the main guys for Boston weren't able to do a whole heck of a lot to cut their lead and make a push, it'd be Marcus Thornton who would be the man who'd do the most damage, cutting the lead to 4 points at one point, but that'd be as close as they could get before it ended at 7 points.
As the 4th quarter began the rookie who was having troubles with Kemba in the first half, started to wake up offensively and got his team back in it in a hurry as Boston found themselves down 3 points after a deep 3. We'd continue to do our best to push the lead with MKG as he'd get past Green and drive in the lane. However much we went ahead though it always seemed like Boston was right in it and as Jeff Green hit a three pointer, it was a 107-106 affair with 1:52 left. That is about when the wheels would fall off for the Celtics though as Jared Sullinger would then cause a personal foul on offense and then Boston would throw it into the stands, all while we would get a basket from Vonleh and Jefferson each, basically sealing victory for us! 1 step closer to playoffs!
