Detroit Inks J.K. Stewart to 3-year Contract as GM

The Pistons are looking for a new source of energy for the organization that has been on the back burner for the past several years. J.K. Stewart sees the opportunity at hand as he gets to work with one of the most talented big men in the NBA with Andre Drummond and a cast of shooters who can space the floor. Stewart has already been vocal about his intentions with Drummond as he is in the last year of his contract. Priority #1 of the new GM is to lock Drummond up for a long time.

Here's a quick 2015-2016 Detroit Pistons season preview:

Division outlook - Central
All of the experts have Detroit finish last (5th) in a division that appears to be the class of the Eastern Conference. The Cavs and Bulls are the clear #1/#2 teams and the Milwaukee Bucks are the sexy pick for breakout team as they've continued to get better through roster building. That leave the Pacers and Pistons at the bottom of the division with the Pacers getting the edge due to having a more established starting lineup with MVP candidate Paul George. After finishing 32-50 last season, things don't look much better for Detroit. If all goes well the Pistons could fight for one of the final playoff spots, which appears to be their ceiling. An early exit in the playoffs would likely be in store if they made the playoffs, but the experience moving forward would be important for the future.

Regular season record prediction: 38-44, 4th in the division

Pistons Spoil Atlanta Home Opener



The home fans in Atlanta were full of enthusiasm in the home opener for the Hawks who won an incredible 60 games last season and held the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Reggie Jackson started off the season with one of his best professional efforts posting a triple-double. Andre Drummond was a beast down low posting 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope came out of the gates hot and showed an improved shooting touch in this one. Overall the game was just an incredible team effort by Detroit (1-0). They controlled the game from the tip until the final buzzer. The lead swelled to as many as 18 in this one and it rarely was under 10. The Pistons shooting percentage was a bit inflated due to the Hawks opting to full court press in the second half some. It was ineffective and resulted in several easy buckets at the rim as the Hawks weren't athletic enough to stick with Detroit.

Al Horford was the lone bright spot for Atlanta as he put up 26 points. Absent from the Hawks offensive attack was the deadly 3-point shooting they displayed last season. Caldwell-Pope was draped all over Kyle Korver and didn't allow him to get a single 3-point attempt off.

The Pistons will look to carry this momentum over to their home opener on 10/28 when they host the Utah Jazz (0-0).

Pistons Roll Jazz in Home Opener

The Detroit Pistons couldn't ask for a better start to the 2015-2016 season as they handled the Utah Jazz with relative ease in the home opener. The final score was only a four point margin, but the game was never close and the Jazz never had a lead. A late flurry from Utah made the score respectable and will look to carry that into their next game.

The Pistons improve to 2-0 and get a huge early season test as the Chicago Bulls (2-0) come to The Palace for a divisional battle. Are the Pistons up for the challenge?

Not So Fast, Detroit

Well the Motor City faithful came out in droves to witness the merciless beating of the Pistons by the Chicago Bulls (3-0). Derrick Rose revived his MVP form and Jimmy Butler was the perfect compliment. The paint was controlled by Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah who both had respectable performances. To top it all off the Bulls got a great shooting night by Tony Snell to round out the starting lineup that dominated all night.

The Pistons tried to hang in there for the first half but every single quarter was won by the Bulls. The defense Detroit faced tonight was nothing like the first two opponents. Butler and Rose harassed the ball at all times and Noah/Gasol were contesting every shot.

This loss shows the Pistons that they need to get a better identity on the offensive side of things and when it comes to elite players, they need to find a way to slow them down.

Pistons move to 3-1 on the season with this simulated victory over the Pacers who fall to 2-3. Paul George had an off night shooting 8-25 and 1-7 from 3pt range. Pacers shot just 5-25 from deep and 18-30 from the FT line. Great win for the Pistons early on.
