INTRO
Hello there, and welcome to a tale for the ages. The story of a young man who would single handedly bring glory to every team he played for. This young man goes by the name of Andre "Shorty" Sharpe.

It all began on the East Side of Syracuse, NY. Andre grew up the oldest of seven, and life was never easy for the Sharpe family. Losing his father as a child, Andre took on the job of being the man of the house at a young age. His life always seemed to be a balancing act between sports and family, with his family usually winning the battle.

Between practically raising his younger siblings, working a part-time job, and basketball, there wasn't room for much else in Andre's life. But as you'll find out during this journey, that never stopped him. Despite all the obstacles in his way, Andre was destined for greatness.

Standing a mere 6'0'' tall, weighing in at 168 lbs, Andre was almost always the smallest guy on the court. Freshman year, Andre would coin the nickname "Shorty" due to his small stature. At that point, he was only 5'5''. Despite his size, Andre would make the varsity team at Nottingham High School.

Sophomore year, Andre earned the starting spot at PG, before moving to SG junior year. Between Sophomore and Junior year, Andre would grow from 5'5'' to 5'11''. It's debated to this day whether Andre actually breaks 6'0'', but only he and his doctor will ever know.

Anyway, Andre put his stamp on the New York HS basketball scene his senior year. His stat line was impressive: 23.5 PPG, 7.3 APG, 3.6 SPG. And his cold-blooded mentality put him a step above the players around him.

It was March 3, 2016 when Andre would truly prove to everyone what he was made of. The game he played this night was no ordinary game. It was the state championship. Nottingham was 17-4 on the season and hadn't won a state championship since 1991. They were going against the top team in the state, Jamesville-Dewitt who were undefeated at 21-0. Both teams are in Syracuse, and rightfully so, the game would be played in the Carrier Dome in front of 20,000 fans.

This game, this night, would cement Andre in history as one of the greatest high school players of all time...

March 3, 2016 -- It was the night of the big game. Tip off was in 90 minutes, and Andre was going through his usual pre-game ritual. Headphones, a basketball, and an empty court. You see, before each game Andre needed some time to himself. It allowed him to get his mind clear and ready for battle.

Tonight would be the biggest stage he's ever played on. Upwards of 20,000 fans, his whole family in the crowd, and the chance for greatness. This was an opportunity Andre was not going to let slip away easily. He was going to give everything he has and leave it all on the court.

As Andre let a jumper go, he caught his teammate Mohamed out of the corner of his eye. "Yo Andre, coach wants us in the locker room" said Mohamed. He nodded and jogged in behind his teammate.

"Alright alright, everyone take a knee" said Coach. "We've got over an hour until the game starts, and as you all know, tonight is the last time our seniors will play in a Bulldogs jersey. Before we talk about the game, I'd like to call our captain and senior leader, Andre Sharpe up to say a little something."

Andre stood up, and was met with cheers and claps as he walked up next to coach. "Y'all know me, and I'm not a man of many words. But right here, right now, I got something to say... They think they got this game won. They think they're gonna be hoisting that trophy celebrating a perfect season." He paused for a moment. Random shouts of "tell 'em" and "not today" bounced off the lockers.

Andre got up on the locker room bench, gritted his teeth and exclaimed, "But they forgot who we are." "Yes sir" responded the team. "They forgot that a Bulldog NEVER gives up. NEVER gives in. And NEVER stops fighting." "DA*N RIGHT!" they yelled back. "They may be wearing their home jerseys, but this is OUR HOUSE TONIGHT!"

The whole team huddled up, raised their fists in the air, and began to chant: "Shorty! Shorty! Shorty! Shorty". Andre backed up and looked at them. "Nah nah nah, this ain't about me. It's about us! It's about the pride we feel wearing this jersey! It's about coach, our school, and EVERYONE who doubted us!" At this point, the team began jumping up and down chanting "BULLDOGS! BULLDOGS! BULLDOGS!".

They all settled down, and as Andre took another knee, a tear spilled down his cheek. This moment, his last time in the locker room as a Bulldog was setting in. But despite all that, he was ready.
