I’ve been thinking of starting up a side legacy again, starting from the bottom with the current sliders I use and some house rules to keep things difficult. I love my current legacy and won’t be ending it anytime soon, but I do miss the challenge of playing in a smaller conference sometimes, and my sliders were too easy early in my legacy (granted, that’s water 10 years under the bridge, LOL).
Thanks bud it's good to be back on here! Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I'm pretty much starting over too. I am hoping that this will become my last legacy that goes through the 40 seasons. I had a couple legacies that lasted a few seasons in the last couple of years in coach mode, but after a while it became pretty easy to exploit that mode. I'm hoping this will be enough of a challenge to where it feels like it's real and a lot of fun!
UT-Martin Skyhawks 0-3 @ Mississippi State Bulldogs 3-0
11/17/07 - Starkville, MS: The Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Skyhawks as they still look for their first win of the season. Mississippi State came out of the locker room on fire and led throughout the contest with the final score being 88-61.
"We learned some valuable lessons tonight" commented coach Walls after the game, "We learned that defensively we cannot be successful individually. Far too often we did a poor job of helping and they out-talented us. If we are going to win moving forward, we need to buy in as a team. I think we are closer than what some may think though."
The Skyhawks kept the score within reach for most of the game until the end when the Bulldogs pulled away.
"We were hovering around that 13-14 point deficit for a lot of the game. Our guys fought hard throughout the game I thought. We also had some good looks from guys who can really score the ball that just didn't want to fall. That's basketball for you. I'm not too worried about our offense, the concern right now is tightening things up on defense."
Coach Walls and company will have the next 12 days off as they look forward to thanksgiving. After the break they will travel to Arkansas State.

INDIANS EXPLODE IN SECOND HALF TO PUSH PAST SKYHAWKS
UT-Martin Skyhawks (0-4) @ Arkansas St. Indians (3-3)
11/29/07 - Jonesboro, AR: After being tied at halftime, Arkansas State would not be denied scoring 49 second half points leading to a 75-69 victory over UT-Martin.
"It's just frustrating because there were things that we could and should have done better" said coach Walls, "We let Banks get loose especially in the first half and then in the second half we were awful in the paint. They had something like 40 points in the paint. Also, we did a horrible job on the boards in the second half."
UT-Martin struggled out of the locker room in the second half giving up a 7-0 run to the Indians.
"We were playing catch-up the whole second half. Robinson got in foul trouble so he didn't have the impact that I'm sure he wanted. Then when we got to the line, we just didn't hit free throws. It's hard knowing we let this one slip but we will learn from it and put it behind us."
The Skyhawks have a quick turnaround as they travel up to New Jersey to play Saint Peter's in just two days.

UT-Martin Skyhawks (1-4) @ St. Peter's Peacocks (4-2)
12/1/07 - Jersey City, NJ: The Skyhawks bench scored half of their overall points tonight which paved the way for them to get their first win of the season, 82-70.
"It was a total team effort tonight which is obviously something you love to see" stated coach Walls, "Being able to go to your bench and have some firepower will be crucial moving forward. It is definitely an advantage to be a threat to score all 40 minutes of a game."
Not only was this the first win of the year for UT-Martin, it is the first for Dave Walls' as a head coach.
"Obviously it is nice to kind of get that monkey off of my back. But it is just one win and I fully expect many more to follow. We have a lot to work on in order to do that and that is where my focus is right now. Gerald needs to stop being in foul trouble so he can be on the floor and we need hit some dang free throws. And of course we still need to tighten things up defensively but I am optimistic that the hard work will show on that end sooner rather than later. Looking back one day this will be a nice memory though."
One week from now the Skyhawks will have their first home game of the season in their conference opener against Jacksonville St.
