I have always been a fan of 82 games, keeping it realistic, but I can't say I dislike this idea, a NFL-like season. Will follow!

League Recap
April 17th, 2020

Bulls go perfect in 2019

Chicago, IL - Not since twenty ten with a young Derrick Rose, or possibly even the nineties, has there been this much excitement around the Chicago Bulls. Led by Zach LaVine, this team of relatively non-household names has worked their way to fourteen wins and zero losses, earning the highest seed and home court advantage in the East. Out West? Just another casual fantastic season by Houston, earning the high seed in their conference at twelve and two.

Top Five Power Rankings

NBA Power Rankings
RK (LW)TeamRecordImpact Player
1 Chicago Bulls14-0G. Monroe (15.0 PPG, 10.4 RPG)
2 Houston Rockets12-2J. Harden (24.5 PPG, 5.8 APG)
3 Toronto Raptors10-4K. Leonard (27.9 PPG, 2.4 SPG)
4 Oklahoma City Thunder10-4P. George (26.7 PPG, 8.5 RPG)
5 Utah Jazz10-4R. Gobert (12.5 PPG, 12.9 RPG)

At the halfway point, Chicago and Houston were tied atop the NBA Rankings with undefeated records. Of course, the Bulls would eventually fall back down to earth, right? Wrong, very wrong. Zach LaVine, Jabari Parker, Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn, and of course, Greg Monroe, have kept up the Bulls perfect record all the way to the end behind the best defensive unit in the league.

With the exception of the Bulls, the rest of the top five rounds out as expected. Houston, led by Harden and Paul, are dominant once again, losing just two games through the fourteen contest schedule. Kawhi Leonard and his Raptors did their work in the East, earning the two seed, while Oklahoma City and Utah, earn the second and third seeds in the West.

As per usual, let's acclimate to the shocking records: Giannis wins MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, but still has to watch the NBA Playoffs from his couch. 'The Process' will not be seeing the playoffs with seven wins and seven losses, even though they clawed their way back from two and six, Portland's struggles are for real as they have won just four games in twenty eight tries, and John Wall and the Wizards go from playoffs to zero win disaster in just one season, yikes.

In the West, LeBron James and his Showtime Lakers snag another bid to the playoffs, along side Phoenix, Golden State, the Clippers, and Timberwolves, who also all had eight wins. Sacramento can't get Boogie back in the NBA Playoffs as they own an even record to end the year, while San Antonio and New Orleans, also miss the postseason after making it in last season. Denver and Portland clearly have struggles, despite a pretty good roster.

Out East, Detroit, Cleveland, Indiana, and Boston, all secure eight wins, while Atlanta, Orlando, and Milwaukee, stroll in with seven a piece. With the exception of just how bad Washington was, things played out pretty much normal in the East. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid need to go back to the drawing boards as 'The Process' got them the same seven wins as they did in 2018, but this season is was not quite enough as their two and six start really did them in.

The Chicago Bulls end with the best defensive unit in the league, allowing just ninety seven per game, while the best offense goes to Golden State who averaged one fourteen behind the top two scorers in the league, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

League Awards

Giannis dominates on both sides

Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, All-NBA First Team, and All-Defensive First Team, can anyone out there match Giannis right now? Don't think so. The 'Greak Freak' is freaking incredible, lining up a historic season, but at what point will Giannis get some help in Milwaukee. The Bucks will miss the NBA Playoffs here in 2019.

Giannis was truly sensational, scoring twenty five per contest, rebounding eleven, assisting six, stealing two, and blocking two, while maintaining nearly a forty nine percent shooting percentage from the field. While not scoring or rebounding as much as he did in 2018, upping his consistency on the defensive side of the ball helped his case dramatically in the MVP race, even though he won Defensive Player of the Year, last season, as well.

(R) Zion Williamson took home the Rookie of the Year honor as he led the Grizzlies with eighteen points per game, seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal and one block, in his Freshman campaign. Though the Grizzlies ended the season at three and eleven, Memphis knows what they have in this young phenom.

Dennis Schroder takes home the Sixth Man of the Year honor, following his sixteen point per game performance off the pine. Jaylen Brown also brought home a big time award, earning the Most Improved Player honor, averaging sixteen points per game, five rebounds, and two assists, per contest.

Many notable names top the All-NBA and All-Defensive lists as Curry, Giannis, Westbrook, Leonard, Davis, James, Oladipo, Butler, Wall, and Green, all top the lists for the second season in a row.

League Leaders

Splash Brothers run wild

How do you get the best offense in the NBA? Two words: Curry and Klay. The two were unreal, averaging a combined sixty three points per game, over half of their team total of one fourteen. The defensive side of things in Golden State are shaky at best, but if you go in there trying to win a shootout, you're in for a doozie.

Hassan Whiteside blasted the boards in his first season with the Brooklyn Nets. While the big man couldn't get them back to the playoffs, he and D'Angelo Russell are quite the combination. Clint Capela, Karl-Anthony Towns, Deandre Ayton, and Rudy Gobert, did however, do enough to get their respective rosters to the playoffs. In just his second season, Ayton has already proven to be a long time talent in the league.

The Bulls and Raptors clean house on the Plus/Minus category as the top two defensive units in the league earn all five spots. Jabari Parker and Kawhi Leonard were the outright best, while Hollis-Jefferson and LaVine landed in the one forties.

Re: Lord of the Rings: A Golden State Warriors Dynasty (NBA 2K19)

Season Statistics
April 17th, 2020

Bell ups game in first full-time season

Oakland, CA - The obvious is known: Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were the engine to the Golden State Warriors. Without the 'Splash Brothers', the Warriors would not be seeing the postseason and most certainly would be looking at a reversed record.

With that said, the engine isn't always the reason cars win races. Jordan Bell was fantastic in his first official full-time season. The third year player averaged eleven points per game, ten rebounds, six assists, two steals, and nearly two blocks, in thirty five minutes of play. Compared to last, Bell upped his scoring by eight, rebounds by five, assists by four, steals by two, and blocks by one. In most regards, Bell is twice the player he was just one season ago.

Curry, Thompson, and Green, all receive NBA Honors, while Stephen Curry falls just short once again the MVP race at third overall. Green, who's contract is up at the end of this season, has yet to make his motives known whether or not he will test the NBA Free Agency waters.

The Warriors made it into the postseason, there's no taking that away, but not all is well in Golden State. Two issues have plagued the roster for most of the season and the issues still remain. First, beyond Curry, Klay, Green, and Bell, most of the roster has been rather questionable. The team saw a lot of misfires in the starting five by trying out Quinn Cook, Andre Iguodala, Boban Marjanovic, and Darius Miller, before settling on Jacobs Evans III to take the role. While Evans played well in some circumstances, his six points per game, two rebounds, and two assists, didn't make enough of an impact for twenty two minutes per contest. The second issue: Defense. Sure, Bell and Green played well, but it's downhill after that, by a good amount. The team surrendered one hundred twenty per game, eight points more than any other franchise in the NBA, not to mention the only team in the playoffs over one hundred seven.

Similar to last season, the defense is suspect, and the offense is going to have to go off through the postseason.

Playoffs Preview
April 17th, 2020

Houston gets tough draw in first

Chicago, IL - While Chicago sees your prototypical first round draw in a seven and seven Orlando, the Rockets get Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler for their first contest, quite the explosive start to the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

Bracket

Even though Houston vs. LA Clippers will be a dramatic start, eyes around the league will once again be glued to LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers meeting Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. This will be the second year in a row the two have met in the first round, with Los Angeles taking the big time upset last season, despite a loaded Golden State roster.

The East has a very big first round contest as well as reigning the NBA Champions will take on Kevin Durant and the Indiana Pacers. In what was thought to be a double digit win season, the Celtics get the fifth seed behind their eight and six record. Gordon Hayward and his crew proved their regular season record did not mean much last season as they swept through the Eastern Playoffs, eventually toppling Houston in the NBA Championship. Will things work out the same here in 2019?

Some other fun NBA Playoff seeds to watch are: the young gunning Phoenix Suns, led by Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, the Jimmy Butler-less Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, Cleveland, who is still trying to make the NBA understand they do not need LeBron, and Utah, who despite claiming the number two seed, still hasn't gotten the respect they deserve.

The NBA Playoffs will certainly deliver exciting action, as always.

Re: Lord of the Rings: A Golden State Warriors Dynasty (NBA 2K19)

Couple things I found pretty interesting:

- Giannis wins MVP despite not having a playoff team. I am pretty positive that has never happened.
- Minnesota improves despite losing Jimmy Butler, that actually makes sense, given their chemistry issues.
- The Lakers and Warriors play each other in the first round again, 2k out here making story lines by itself.
- The Cavs will literally not quit, once again making the playoffs even though their roster is suspect.
- Boston can't find more than eight wins with by far the most depth in terms of talent.
- Phoenix's rebuild looks like it's coming into fruition.
- The Trail Blazers and Nuggets are struggling big time despite having a couple of elite players.

These playoffs are going to be pretty fun. Looking forward to getting this game in.

Six seed Cavs? Is Love putting up insane numbers then?

It's really a combo effort between Love and Sexton, with guest appearances by Larry Nance Jr and Jordan Clarkson.

Sexton - 21.3 PPG, 4.9 APG, 1.4 SPG
Love - 17.9 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 1.1 SPG & BPG
Clarkson - 15.2 PPG
Nance Jr - 11.1 PPG, 8.6 RPG

Re: Lord of the Rings: A Golden State Warriors Dynasty (NBA 2K19)

NBA Playoffs
April 17th, 2020

James ends Golden State hopes once again

Los Angeles, CA - It may not have been by the same score, from the same players, or in the same city, but the result stays the same for the second go around: Los Angeles defeats Golden State to advance.

LeBron James and the Lakers traveled to Oracle just one season prior as a true underdog, defeating Curry, Thompson, Durant, Cousins, and Green, an upset that shocked the league. Well, Los Angeles nailed a fact into the coffin today: The Lakers are no longer an underdog.

Led by James, 'The King' only needed twenty four minutes to go fourteen of eighteen from the field, good for thirty four and a double-double on his ten rebounds. His trusty sidekicks, Lonzo Ball and Tyreke Evans, put up nineteen a piece, adding some impact rebounds and assists, along the way. For all the trio did throughout the game, much of the performance has to be credited to Brandon Ingram who came off the bench for twenty three. While Ball, Evans, and James, got their rest, Ingram kept the Lakers' pedal to the metal. Combined with Ingram's scoring was Bobby Portis' rebounding, which helped the Lakers record sixty one on the day, compared to Golden State's forty six.

The first quarter got off shaky for Golden State who was outscored fifteen to thirty one, following a tough start from Curry who was two for eight. Thankfully, Curry found his touch in the second quarter and he, plus Klay Thompson, managed to bring things back within range before halftime. The first thirty minutes of play ended with Los Angeles in front by nine.

While Golden State had brought things back following the second quarter performance, Los Angeles flexed it's depth in the third quarter, unleashing an assault by Brandon Ingram. The sixth man would go for twenty three, most of which coming during that quarter, putting a dagger into the hope for Golden State. The heavy onslaught of James, Evans, Ball, and Ingram, was too much for Curry and Klay, despite the pressure on the scoreboard. The dust had began to settle early in the fourth and both teams let their benches get a little playoff spotlight.

"We're not sound and we've got too many holes", said Steve Kerr, following the loss. "The offseason starts now and it's time we address the things we are missing". The Warriors' biggest issue was once again rebounding as they were out boarded by fifteen. Bobby Portis, off the bench, out rebounded every player on Golden State as Jordan Bell led the charge with nine. One of the most worrisome statistics: Stephen Curry was second in rebounds with eight...Steph Curry. Draymond Green and Jacob Evans III had little impact in the starting five, and the duo of Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala combined for just four points off thirty six minutes from the pine. By all accounts, Curry and Klay were kites, dancing in a Los Angeles hurricane.

This chapter of the Golden State Warriors dynasty has officially come to an end as the NBA Playoffs will continue with the advancement of the Los Angeles Lakers.
