New York Knicks Race Toward All-Time Futility

The New York Knicks goal this off season was clear. Make cap space, and gear up for a summer of 2019 free agent class set to include the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving just to name a few. The result was a controversial trade of their young phenom Kristaps Porzingis in order to jettison the contracts of Tim Hardaway Jr., and Courtney Lee. The fallout is a team that is far from competitive, and currently on pace to be the worst in NBA history. New York has yet to win a game this season. Young guard Dennis Smith Jr., whom they acquired in the trade is their leading scorer, and there is not much else as far as starting level talent on this team. It will be interesting to see if the Knicks fans will be patient, with the prospects of a huge off-season on the horizon. Also is New York the free agent destination we all think it is? The Dolan-era led team has been abysmal for the majority of the time, and an all time bad season isn't exactly the way to attract fans, or free agents. Right now the best bet for the Knicks and their fans is to pray.

Nikola Jokic Turning Heads Around the League

Denver big man Nikola Jokic has a skill set unique to players his size. In the age of the "do it all" wings and big men like Kristaps Porzingis, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Jokic takes it to a whole new level. With the body of a true center, Jokic has the passing touch of a Chris Paul, and can step outside and shoot the three with the best of them. Jokic passing abilities for a man of his frame are just unheard of in the league, and by the way he will bang bodies with anyone in the league down low too. Jokic leads the NBA in rebounds this season, and is top three in assists. If that sounds unheard of, that's because it is. No player in NBA history has ever been top five in those two categories in a single season. If Denver can keep winning, expect this unique season by Jokic to generate a ton of MVP buzz.

T-Wolves Lose Towns to Groin Injury

Out west where the margin for error is slim, the T-Wolves playoff aspirations took a hit earlier this week when Karl-Anthony Towns went down with what the team called a "significant" groin injury. Diagnosis right now is that the Wolves will be without their star for at least the next couple of weeks, which is enough time to fall behind quickly in a crowded field in the Western Conference.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Game 9 Preview @ Detroit Pistons

Detroit - The Miami Heat, coming off their most impressive outing of the young season, head to Detroit on Monday night to close out their three game road trip against the Pistons. Detroit was hoping to take a leap into a playoff contending status, but their early record is cause for a major concern. Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond are not meshing as a front court, and it may not be long before the plug has to be pulled on one of them. The two teams did play four times last year, and split the series 2-2.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Richardson's Dagger Does in Pistons

Detroit - Goran Dragic had 20 points, and Dion Waiters chipped in 19 off the bench, but it was Josh Richardson with a dagger three pointer with 0.2 seconds left that pushed the Miami Heat to a win over the Detroit Pistons in a sloppy, defensive battle 88-87. Just a few moments before hand, Blake Griffin, who led the way for Detroit with 23 points hit a fade away jumper over Bam Adebayo with 2.4 seconds left that gave Detroit a, 87-85 lead, and hopes of a late victory over the Heat, but out of the timeout Erik Spoelstra spread the floor with shooters, and Josh Richardson came off an Hassan Whiteside screen for a quick catch and shoot that sent the Pistons fans home disappointed. The fact that the final play was drawn up for Richardson shows the coaching staff's faith in his ability to take the mantle as the main guy offensively on this Heat team moving forward, and him sinking the big shot is showing that their faith is well placed. Miami will get a travel day tomorrow before they're back home Wednesday night to host the San Antonio Spurs at American Airlines Arena. That game tips off at 7:30 PM EST.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Game 10 Preview vs. San Antonio Spurs

Miami - The Miami Heat return home after winning the last two games of their road trip, and are looking to ride that momentum into this four game home stand that starts tomorrow night against the San Antonio Spurs. This is obviously a new look Spurs team. With Tony Parker leaving in free agency, and Kawhi Leonard being traded, there are no more links left to the Championship squads of years past. For the first time in over 20 years, the Spurs are looking at a rebuild. The game will tip off at 7:30 PM EST from American Airlines Arena.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Heat Go Stone Cold in Second Half, Fall to Spurs

Miami - DeMar DeRozan led the way with 31 points, and the Spurs had three players off their bench score in double figures, as the Heat went cold shooting in the second half, as San Antonio pulled away for a 102-87 win. Miami raced out to a lead in the first half, going up by as much as 17 points at one point, before carrying a 53-40 lead into the locker room. Goran Dragic had 20 points in that first half, but he like the other Heat players could not get in a groove at all in the second half. Still Miami had a five point lead entering the fourth before the Spurs poured it on, outscoring the Heat 34-14 in the final quarter. Miami will get a couple days off to think about what went wrong before hosting the Indiana Pacers on Friday Night.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Game 11 Preview vs. Indiana Pacers

Miami - The Heat look to get back on track after a tough home loss to open their home stand when they welcome the Indiana Pacers into town Friday night. Indiana comes in on a rocky start for a team that had definite playoff expectations in the eastern conference. The two teams split their four games last year 2-2. For those of you into the aesthetics, the Heat will be debuting their brand new "City" edition jerseys that are based on the same "Vice City" theme as last years jerseys, and a new court design to match. The game tips off at 8:00 PM EST from American Airlines Arena.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Heat Can't Keep Up in Overtime, Drop Second Straight

Miami - Victor Oladipo, and Myles Turner each had 23 points, as the Indiana Pacers rallied in the fourth quarter, then pulled ahead in overtime to get a 113-106 win over the Miami Heat. Goran Dragic led the Heat again with 26 points, but in a concerning trend the last two games, the Heat built up a lead only to watch it wither away late. The lack of intensity late in games is something coach Erik Spoelstra addressed after the game, and said he may be looking at some rotation changes to get some other guys looks late in games. Those changes could come as soon as tomorrow night when the Heat face the Washington Wizards in a second of a back to back. That game will tip-off at 8:00 PM EST.

Re: Vice City Stories: 2018-19 Miami Heat

Game 12 Preview vs. Washington Wizards

Miami - Coming off a loss last night, and two in a row to start the home stand, the Miami Heat will look to get back on track tonight when they host the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have been on a little bit of a run as of late as they won last night in Orlando making it three in a row after struggling out of the blocks. Those struggles included a 105-83 loss to the Heat during the first week of the season. This game will tip off at 8:00 PM EST from American Airlines Arena.
